overclock i5 750 Lga 1156

Hi everyone!

i hope this is the right section where to post about overclocking a cpu ( i'm pretty new here )

I'd like to overclock my i5 750 Lga 1156 ( 2,6 Ghz ) to something more, like 3,2 Ghz or more, but actually i don't even know where to start.

I'm running this cpu in an ASUS P7P55D - PRO mobo and in these days i'm gonna buy also a good cpu cooler, maybe a cooler master 412s or something similar ( dunno which one exactly, so if u have any suggestion about a not to big/expansive cooler, you're wellcome! )

Is there anyone that can help me trough the process or maybe link me a good guide about it ? ( i want to avoid the pre made ASUS software like AI boost etc, i wanna do it manually so i can finally learn )

thank you very much! thumb.gif

thank you, first of all
What i had in mind was to reach 3,2 or 3,5 and to have a system safe and healty. Maybe 4 Ghz it's a little bit to much for now, also because it's the first time i'm doing an overclock, so i just want to start with simple adjusting to have few benefits. What kind of modification to that guide i have to do to reach just maybe 3,2 or 3,5 Ghz?
.

thanks a lot

Hi fellow i5-750.

Mine is running absolute stable at 3.2ghz (CPU ratio at 20) . idle at 40 degree and max at 61 degree Celcius. I am using Corsair H60 CPU cooler
Besides, I am using 2x8GB= 16GB RAM with 1606mhz. 9-9-9-27 (BCLK at 160)
My VTT voltage is 1.5
All saving power modes are on
Turbo boost off

I am using Asus P7P55D-E Pro motherboard
JetEnduro already posted a good link

Please fill out your full system specs so we can see what you're working with; it will help us help you smile.gif

For a decent board 3.2GHz should be easily attainable just by raising the multi to 20x and keeping 160 BLK.
Everyone's setups are going to be a bit different, but IIRC on mine I didn't even need to tweak voltages for 3.2 (again YMMV).

The guide linked earlier in the thread is great for giving you ballpark estimates though for the 4GHz range.
