Best laptop for $750?

Thread Starter
I am looking for a good college laptop however, I have to leave my desktop back at the house. I guess this needs to be able to play everything at decent frames at atleast medium settings. So the only thing I'd be doing on it is media ( Movies, music, games ) and word processing.

I found this and couldn't find a thing that could get close to beating it for the price.

What can you find?

I would get a 14 incher with at least 900p resolution...

I would also take a look at lenovo products, such as the T series, they are pretty solid quality as have always been.

The laptop you found is going to be tough to beat. I don't like 1366x768 resolution for productivity though, but you could always use an external monitor when needed. The 660m is in fact a very capable GPU especially when overclocked.

Go for either Lenovo IdeaPad Y400 or Y500.
Those two should be close to your 750 dollar budget, and it is worth it if you want to do some serious gaming.
Especially Y500 because you can add either another video card to make it SLI or SSD by replacing the optical drive.

By the way, what games title are we talking about?
You need to be clear about it, so we can find an appropriate laptop to run those games otherwise we end up giving you a laptop with poor specs to run those games.

Good luck finding any i series MBP for 750 as a refurb from a store.
Craigslist will be a better option if you want a Mac used.

If you're fine with buying a refurbished laptop then the one you linked is pretty hard to beat. Although with those specs it would be a worthy investment to swap that 5400rpm hard drive out and put a SSD in. I just put a 120GB SSD in my Lenovo Z575 yesterday and am using an old desktop hard drive as an external hard drive; just a suggestion. Regardless, the in-game performance that the GTX660m combined with the i5 and 8GB of RAM will land you playing games like Skyrim and Battlefield 3 easily at high settings.

Especially at 1336X768. Should easily be doing so for the next generation of games as well.
I second the refurb laptop. Spoend a little more and try and get the extended warranty for some peace in mind
