Rat MMO7 Reliability???

Thread Starter
I should be getting my new Rat MMO7 either today or tomorrow. I have been reading a lot about the mouse, and aside from the dust problem causing strange mouse behavior, how reliable is this thing? I have read many people are breaking the scroll wheels, and buttons seem to be falling off. I also ordered a glide 9 mat, which should be coming next week. How durable is it, and how well does it perform with the MMO7? After spending some $184.00, I sure hope I didn't make a huge mistake. Also been reading about horrible customer service. Thanks.

I have no experience with the RAT 7 but I have used my RAT 9 for almost 6 months now without any hickups. The only problem I really had was that my aluminium mousepad caused the mouse pointer to act funny and screw up. After I switched to a black cloth mouse pad I haven't experienced any issues at all.

I'm scared that I'll break it at some point especially since I have heard the same horror stories as you have. I think it feels sturdy enough and I just love the way that it sits in my hand. The thumb scroll wheel is an amazing tool and is perfect for switching tabs and using as a volume control.

I absolutely love this mouse but you should probably wait for someone who has had it a bit longer than I have to get a better insight.

I have a RAT 5 it's been RMA'd once (which was fairly quick and efficient) the problem I had was the metal screws holding the sides on rusted underneath the paint then the paint flaked away leaving visible some very deeply rusted screws. I assume the paint on mine hadn't been applied properly as the replacement is doing fine without showing the same issue. Other than that it's a pretty solid mouse people breaking the buttons must be seriously ham-fisted as I have big rough bear paw hands and haven't killed any buttons yet.

One thing to keep in mind is pretty much any mouse when searched in detail on google is going to throw up angry buyers that got a dud or broke it. As long as the company honours their guarantee and the RMA is reasonably painless that's all you can ask... in my experience with my RAT it is, customer service was a breeze I emailed got a response within a few days, sent it off and had new within a week. Ok it could have been faster but its a mouse not a PSU or a mobo (where I would expect much quicker responses).

Oh I would also order some spare feet (the pads on the bottom) if you scratch one it really makes the mouse feel horrible till you can replace it.

I hope that you do realize that there is an entire club dedicated to discussing these mice....

Trust me, we talk about the ups and downs of the product..... it's not one big "lovefest" in there. Personally, I have the MMO 7 (2 of them actually) and yes, they do have their flaws, however personally, I do think the benefits outweigh the flaws.

If they ever addressed the flaws, of course it would be perfect (such as quality of the buttons and the sensitivity of the sensor to environmental conditions such as your type of mousepad and how dirty it is...)
