New Build for my PC

Thread Starter
Hi Guys,

maybe someone can help me.
I plan a new gaming PC for August BF4.

Here my components:

i5-3570K Boxed ~200 €
Thermalright HR-02 Macho Rev. A ~36 €
Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H ~110€
1600er G.Skill Sniper 2x4GB Kit~ 62€
Xigmatek Midgard 2 ~ 62€
Gigabyte Radeon HD 7950 WindForce 3X~ 270€
SF Golden Green Pro 450W ~65€
Samsung SSD 840 250GB ~140 €
~ 945€

Have someone an idea for better quality/price ratio?

Thx a lot.

By August (well alot sooner than that) there will be Haswell from Intel and 7xx series from Nvidia so you may want to hang tight on buying for a few weeks.

It's a great build i wouldn't change anything but maybe the fans on the case as i heard xigmatek fans aren't too great but that's just me being picky on fans again rolleyes.gif
Maybe other option for the case could be nzxt source 210 as it seems to be pretty much the same but cheaper.

The 700 series of nvidia cards is coming the 23rd starting with 780, so if you want a little better GPU i'd wait, but it'll cost you more.
Haswell won't be a big step from Ivy bridge performance wise, but it will come with a new socket which then again is more "future proof"

I read a lot for the hd 7950 and 7970. But there are as many opinions.
Someone say buy the 7970. Other one say the 7970 has not a good quality/price ratio. What you mean?
The other thing is the Power Supply. I heard the SF is not so good. I shoud take a be quiet! Power Supply. What you mean?
The other questen that a guy say me i can buy cheaper Memory with CL11. The performance is impalpabile. ?
The budge for the PC is around 1000€. Cheaper is better but i dont want lose to much performance wink.gif

Do you mean i shoud wait for a few weeks/months and buy then the 700 series of nvida and a Haswell CPU? The questens is is the price not really high for the quality? But if they are more "future proof" s maybe it makes sense.

welcome to OCN. one of the few times i see new members post builds like this..

All i have to say. stay away from Gigabyte GPUS. they are voltage locked. and not worth the money as you can't push them

why are you going the I5 3570k is that not a plain quad core without hyperthreading also future is looking towards heavily multithreaded not single threaded performance.

Ok I have a few things to say here I will link some definitive videos from someone that is a hardcore Intel fanboy and is also sponsored by Intel Linus from Linus techtips part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICVeN6WEGgg part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uD6UcsVG56g
part 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHnsfIJtZ2o he even says the AMD FX 8350 performs nearly as well as the I5 3570k ( even when overclocked ) and always remained in the good playable fps except in 1 anomaly he points out the price differences and even states the future of the AMD FX looks like its multithreaded capabilities will be put better to use since next gen consoles nearly have all been won by AMD with a custom 8core CPU / APU (dx11) setup for ps4 and xbox 720 since 90% of games are first made for console then ported over to PC this gives AMD an edge and also massive optimizations ( and a lot of much needed funds for R & D ) for multithreading and such lowering the amount of games using heavy single threded performance.

I also want to point out his tests were done very thoroughly with nearly all variables taken out he goes deeply into depth of things and explains everything is setup to be nearly identical in every way minus the Intel and AMD.

I also would like to point out with next gen consoles being AMD do you believe they will optimize games with the notorious dirty Intel compiler / CPU dispatcher http://www.agner.org/optimize/blog/read.php?i=49 scroll down till you see green then read this goes all the way to 5/2012 Intel compiler still doing it so it's very relative today remember almost all benchmarks / software / games use this Intel compiler / CPU dispatcher so once next gen consoles come into play a lot of the issues will be resolved and AMD will get a chance to show what is possible by them if you don't believe the Intel compiler issue then take a read of this http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2010/08/intel.shtm go down till you see this ( In addition, the FTC settlement order will require Intel to: ) then read it is directly mentioning this issue the US government had to step in on this subject and found it to be true and Intel is still releasing theyre compilers this way.

also the next gen AMD will be plug and play in the AM3+ socket with likely just a bios update why would you go with a dead socket ( I5 3570k ) that will be soon outperformed on both sides by AMD and Intel with next release basically I see your choice of the I5 3570k as a waste of money if you wait a bit there will be better prices and choices to select from or go AMD FX 8320 then when steamroller is released drop in new cpu sell old one to minimize cost also going AMD route the motherboards are a lot cheaper did I mention AMD FX 8320-50 overclock like mad men http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2779392 5.0ghz x8 100% stable but I don't like the voltage when under load being so high ( 1.56v under load ) for 24/7 http://valid.canardpc.com/2804509 4.8ghz x8 100% stable my 24/7 overclock ( 1.44v under load ) .
