[VC] NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Final Specifications - Page 4

I would be willing to bet if MSI voltage unlocks the 780 Lighting on launch Nvidia will again tell them to knock it off. I would love to see a voltage unlocked Lightning vs. a stock Titan though price/performance.

My guess is the 780 will be like the 680 and be bios voltage locked. As people have found out, it is possible to flash the 680's with custom voltage profiles. Though with GPU Boost 2.0, water will see a bigger performance increase as it will allow a higher overall boost and voltage than the regular stock cooler.

Only the GTX 690 is hardware voltage locked, thus far.

They had a EVBot that was a device that could adjust the voltage via hardware? Even that was disallowed by Nvidia basically destroying the entire 680 classified line. Software voltage modding and even hardware voltage modding are banned by Nvidia.

The GTX 780 will most definitely be voltage locked.

The 680 Lightning was unlocked originally as well... and there are BIOS hacks to bump the volts up some on even reference models, though hardly fully unlocked or anything there.

"GeForce GTX 770 will be 10 to 20% faster than Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition"

That seems a bit odd. My 680DCII TOP is clocked higher then that from ASUS besides memory and is not 20% faster then a 7970GE overall, no way.

I guess all that's left is the official pricing for both, which I won't take as gospel as final until the actual announcement. Either way, here's a rundown of the new models and the previous units that they're based on:
Code:

from my understanding is, NVidia only banned 600 series and titan voltages to sell their 700 series with higher clocks and higher possible overclocks, there is literally no other reason why they would just stop other companies from overvolting as long as overvolting agrees to a term like void of warrenty.

lol wut, the 770 went from $350-400 to $449? So much for the 780 being $500!

If the 770 is $449, the lowest I can assume the 780 at is $599-650. Considering it's a GK110 and 20-30% faster.

If this card comes in at ~$500 I'm planning on upgrading. More than that and I'll either wait for a sale or for the next AMD series.
