Using a broken H100i for a custom loop.... Help maybe? - Page 3

well it wont take a mortgage to get a decent loop going, try getting some components used like i did!

i have the same block (new 65$)
HWLabs black ice 360 (Used, 60$)
EKTop ddc 355 (used, 30$)
fans, (used 5$ ea)
res (used 10$)
basic fittings (barbs + clamps) hose, cable extentions etc all new but fairly cheap.

overall i think i paid less than 300$ for a loop that could cool much more than it does.

Okay, i agree to the waterblock, but i would like to get new parts instead of used ones.

As far as the res, rad, pump and the block go, i can select them myself. But i find it really hard to choose tubing, fittings and barbs. I was asking help for that. smile.gif

Even more curious how you removed the logo from an H100i block as its actually more like a Corsair shaped window with LED's behind it.

Nonetheless, your already elbows deep in modifying it, I'll leave you alone.

Sorry mate, didn't see your edit there.
what i did was, i removed the plastic cap from the pump unit, and then sanded the logo on the flipside of the cover.

I have that block smile.gif
Good thing nickel plating keeps the copper out of the equation entirely.

Okay, so i can buy this kit off amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/Raystorm-Universal-Cooling-Included-Dead-Water/dp/B00CA2W2JS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1368943682&sr=8-1&keywords=RayStorm+D5+RX240

So the pump, res, rad and the block is done.
Now what i wanna know is,
1. the tubing i should select
http://www.xs-pc.com/products/watercooling-tubing/
2. Will i need more fittings, barbs or any other items
http://www.xs-pc.com/products/fittings/hose-fittings/

That's all that's left to know. smile.gif

(Edit: added links. Sorry for editing messages this much tongue.gif )
(Edit #2: HAH! Looks like that kit comes with 2 meters of tubing as well)

if you can order from somewhere else like frozencpu or dazmode or performance-pc, they sell the same kits cheaper. that particular kit is sold and shipped from frozen it says.
personally i would buy this ex360 kit. http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59_202_972&products_id=33590 Starting at: $259.99
the ex series rads CAN beat the rx but do beat the rs series.
you wont need anything but distilled water and a biocide or a kill coil. i would personally(and did) go with a biocide instead of a silver kill coil. what all modding have you done to your case? did you cut the top up to install the rad? you can also get 1 of these. it will hide the cut-outs for the rad fans pretty well, measure your cut outs first. make sure it actually covers what is already there.

I won't be able to get anything from any one of those mentioned sites because i will be using an intermediate courier service to handle my shipping and clearance. Also, do they ship worldwide?
I didn't mod the casing for a rad yet. nor am i planning on doing so any time soon. with what i have, the biggest i can go for now is a 240. But i'll upgrade to a better casing when i get my graphics cards next year. Then i'll be able to do a better loop. Maybe add another 360 and a pump to it.(just some ideas)

Anyway, you guys helped me a lot.
My final decision is to get the XSPC Raystorm RS240 (http://www.amazon.com/Raystorm-RS240-Extreme-Universal-Cooling/dp/B008PA1SA8/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1368946023&sr=1-1&keywords=RayStorm+750+RS240)
Which is the cheapest and most affordable kit for my needs.

Thanks pc-illiterate and everyone. smile.gif
