Low on memory warning - only in games

Thread Starter
Hey yo.

As you can see from my sig, I should have enough memory (8Gb @2133) to run everything. Lately, Crysis 3 and Bioshock infinite will crash with 'low memory' warnings. What gives?

I got page file turned off, and resource monitor says I have more than 2Gb free when these warnings go off. What Can I do?

I would suggest that you enable the swap file.

I'm guessing those games have 32-bit executables? They'll still only be able to address 4GB or 2GB of memory, depending on how they're compiled, so try turning that pagefile back on.

I gather it's safe to have the page file on the ssd?

Totally safe. I stick to a fixed 4GB size page file on my SSD.

Of course it is safe, it is just that some people prefer not to have it on their SSD because it *may* increase the lifespan of the drive (by a few days). If you still want one but not on the ssd, there is a guide over here to move it to a secondary HDD.

Hope this helps.

You can set a swap file to an external and use a USB stick or something like that. Very quick performance, it's no SSD, but could be faster than using a mechanical HDD.

So nominal it should not even be mentioned. I don't plan to use the same SSD for ten years.

Eh, some people really want these minor bumps. It's just another option that the OP has. It's certainly better than not having a page file at all.
