Left hand keyboard user ~help~?

Thread Starter
I'm asking the people who is a left hand user and use keyboards for stuff like gaming or work.

What keyboard do you guys use?
Do you guys re-edit the keys to make it adjustable for left hand or use the default right hand keyboard layout which is WASD for gaming?

I'd recommend re-mapping the keys so that it's comfortable. Some left-handed people just give up and use the mouse with right hand.

I map all keys to the numeric keypad on the right for gaming, using 8,4,5,6 vs w,a,s,d. 0 for jump, 7 for use, 9 for reload or some other function. Its a pain setting it up for every game, is there a program that could make this easier, remapping actual key input so I can switch it on before a game and have 8,4,5,6 actually register as w,a,s,d, and so on?

I've always just used arrow keys. left-control for crouch, shift for use, enter for inventory, numpad 2 for reload, 1 for special (VATS, grenade launcher), 3 for ammo change, 4 for map, 0 for jump, numpad period for sprint, and numpad enter for flashlight. Its a tad annoying changing stuff around all the time, but probably easier than relearning everything right-handed.

I'm not actually a left hand typist, but I need to enter lots numbers with my left hand at work, so my right hand won't leave my mouse.
I use this at work:

Could this can help? rolleyes.gif

That would help him a decent amount assuming it still has a standard qwerty layout, that would move the wasd keys waaay over.

It helps the WASD be in a slightly better position, but you would still have to remap keys since the ctrl/shift row is on the wrong side for the right hand.

If it does look like something you would want, I would buy direct since it looks like they use cherry switches now (I assume blacks). I think they used to use ALPs or a knockoff. Not sure what the Amazon one will end up with. http://www.dsi-keyboards.com/dsi-left-handed-keyboard-usb-with-cherry-mechanical-key-switches.aspx

Is there any advantage of playing as a left hand user or not?
The reason I asked is because I wanted to try out a left hand way.
Why? Just curious if there's any advantage of playing it.

Well, I am sort of an ambidextrous so why not try and play as a left hand?

I have a seperate numeric pad and I tried the left handed layout (placing the numpad to the left of the qwerty). If you are mousing with the left hand, it doesn't push wasd over enough. Put your fingers on wasd, and 8456 (numpad) at the same time, notice the symmetry?

I used a right handed mouse and keyboard for many years, it worked out fine. After switching to a left handed mouse, and working through an adjustment period I was able to focus more intensely and for longer periods of time. Speed and reaction time are about the same for me.

I doubt there's any advantage, more of a comfort issue.
