Laptop has nearly constant 90% and up CPU usage

Thread Starter
My main PC is down for a week so im on my laptop, but its unbearably slow due to some process taking up most of the CPU all the time...
I know that svchost is a service host application run by windows

Ive tried looking up the PID number online, but to no avail.
Can anyone shed some light on how to stop, or lower its usage?
Thanks smile.gif

I did a full system scan with Avast yesterday and found 2 viruses my dad had installed, so I dont think its that...

But I do seem to have fixed it. Im down to 2-4% usage while idle now.
I killed the WMPnetwk service which seems to have been the cause of the trouble smile.gif
And I also disabled windows defender, which i didnt know was still running on this tongue.gif

Okay, its back. I thought it would be.
Ive got this, if this helps in any way?

Can you tell whats going on?

[Edit take 2]
Think I got it this time. I killed off the media center extender, and all seems to be well with the world. I dont even have an xbox to use with it anymore anyways tongue.gif

I would also recommend an antispyware/malware search and removal program as they are often passed off as non-viruses.
