Hooking Up a PS2 to a Monitor

Got a hit of nostalgia the other day and decided to dust off the old PS2 to play some old games.

I'd like to play it on my BL2400PU (standard 24in LED) and since I use the DVI input for my PC, I have three connections left: VGA, DisplayPort, and HDMI.

Would I need some sort of active converter? I'm very amateur when it comes to this stuff, any tips are appreciated.

Also, I have the issue of audio. I'd like to be able to somehow run the audio through my sound card then to my headphones since I'd rather not unplug my headphones from my computer every time I wanted to play.

I run a Xonar DG with HD558's if that matters.

You could buy a converter box since the cable conversion solutions are hit and miss. I used an old dvd player/recorder laying around. I use the ps2 composite cords to the dvd player and the dvd player hooks up to my monitor through hdmi.

I've also read about emulators, but is it the same without the controller; more importantly, is it weird without a joystick?

It would solve my audio issue as well, but I just feel a bit somber seeing the PS2 collecting dust redface.gif.

Bump. Emulators are rather complicated......

You can get a USB controller rather cheap. If not you could try an XBOX or PS3 controller with xpadder/motionjoy to control the emulator. I had a blast replaying KH1 with my PS3 controller on PSX2.

So I should try to get the emulator to work then? Seems so convoluted what with the BIOS dumping etc etc.
