it's kind of rare to get a fully functional well working used component for a computer.

You obviously havent looked into the marketplace have you? reputable sellers, I have been buying there for years and have yet to have a bad experience.

Also dont bump your thread after an hour of inactivity :/

I do look through sellers reputation, yet still go through bad buys, look bottom line I won't buy anything from eBay.
And okay -.-

Honestly, I've bought many, MANY things used and never really had any issues. Probably 3 CPUs, 10+ video cards, and other odds and ends. Not one single problem. Ironically the main things I've had go bad were MSI motherboards that I bought new (went through several with my E8400 and they kept dying), and some bad ram sticks I bought new.

With something like Titans, I had no hesitation at all about buying used two month old GPUs that are going to be under EVGAs warranty for almost 3 more years.

Hard drives/SSDs/PSUs I'd always want to buy new. Motherboards, usually new, unless there's someone on a forum you trust to give you a good board (in that case I'd almost trust a used/tested board over new/untested).

Buying used on ebay, I only go with sellers where it's clear they're knowledgeable and are parting out their own PC. I stay away from powersellers where it's not really clear how they got the part and they may not have even tested it.

Do you have the same "no used" policy when it comes to cars? If so you really must love eating that instant depreciation up front. Just curious

and my vote was for the 780's based on what we expect. I think the coolers would be great for SLI. But those Titans should do it too! lol

I agree that used cards shouldn't be such a no no. Granted mot my current cards, but many of my previous cards I've purchased used off of eBay.

I love getting older computers and modding them to their limit. its like a little old school race car then. And of course I don't have a choice but eBay for a lot of it.

You just gotta know what to look for when buying successfully. And also keep in mine that PayPal buyer protection really has great results.
