You know, this is where it boils down to for me. The only legitimate concern I find with privacy is something like being denied employment when a supervisor sees you doing something inappropriate but otherwise legal. Let's face it. The stories of this happening are what's motivating a lot of the paranoia. You all hear about those guys who got fired for making a joke about dongles at a tech convention?

Cuz if this wasn't a real problem, people would be more concerned about displaying identifying information than how they act. It's easy to forget that someone you managed to tick off already has a recording device built into their head. It's called a brain. And with enough ill will on their part you're gonna have a lot more problems than a few million lol'ers will ever give you.

a valid point, but that doesn't stop your nazi boss being a nazi boss. Most of us have to straighten up in some way (or for some people a big way) in order to conform and fit into a 'model employee' in work to the kind of people we would never socialize with out side of work.

I have seen these people vet new employees by looking on their facebook page and many times deny them work based on a feeling of how that person might be. Typically it would be an image of someone enjoying a night out with friends in a club, nothing more. The greater facial tagging becomes the harder it will be to not see your face linked in the background somewhere with your hand up a girls skirt yessir.gif

without control, GPS or otherwise on using these in certain social venues you could live your whole life outside of work not enjoying yourself or at least being extremely embarrassed when 20 million people see the thing that a few years ago only your friends would.. the difference being before the "you can do that already on a phone, derp" comment comes out , yes but much less obviously with integrated glasses and in better quality and with an APP focus on realtime share and upload.

there needs to be some sort of sensible regulation, not a ban as of yet that will come in time anyway when people spoil things as they usually do.

Because it's like having a smartphone in front of your face.

While I didn't read the last 17 pages on this topic in detail it seems people are confused on what is a public place, and what is private. Anything inside the doors of a McDonalds is private, no if's, and's or but's. They can regulate to anyone they want to serve to for any reason with the exception to race, and religion. If one day McDonalds decides they will no longer serve people wearing blue pants, they are more then welcome to do that.

On a side note, 2 weeks ago I went to court as a witness because I asked the police to remove someone who was loitering out from of one of our establishments. The person arrested argued since he was on a public sidewalk he couldn't be arrested because he was where the public was allowed to be. He was found guilty. Funny thing is he video taped the entire thing, put it on youtube thinking that would get him off, but it only sealed his fate.

owning something doesn't mean that you know everything about it, if your bar doesn't require membership to gain access and the general public is allowed to go in there, then IT IS A PUBLIC PLACE.

But there is a reasonable expectation of privacy within the McDonalds itself, as it is private property. As such you must follow their wishes. The same regulations protect your home as well, as it can be considered stalking, which does have legal repercussions, to film someone inside their home from within another private location, but it is ok to film someone in their home from the public street. It might be rude but if they leave their window open there is not any legal repercussions.

If you film someone within a private location that is not owned by you, you have to get approval and release papers. You can film all day long to whatever audience you want if you are in a public location.

So it isn't about you eating your burger, it is about your privacy in general, something we do need to protect.

you are free to film anyone in a public place, i'm not gonna argue about mcdonald's banning glass, but if you are in a restaurant that doesn't ban video cameras, and someone wants to film you, then you can't do jack about it.

Personally I think Google Glass is a joke. At first I thought it was an April Fools. Not sure many places will allow users to wear the kit, plus the glasses look horrendous!

When will google do something right? First Google + now this, surprised they didnt buy Tumblr to complete the set!

Can't record in a Mcdonalds? But wait, don't you have cameras that record every single customer for good reasons, such a theft prevention and tracking the efficiency of your store? What if I want to use a camera too, to record what I consume in a day that interacts with my calorie tracker?

To me, if someone has the right to record me, I have the right to record them right back. Mcdonalds has cameras, I have a camera.
