As for the law to not use them while driving...I don't know how police officers would be able to tell. Especially since they rarely catch idiots texting while driving.

At least it wouldn't be so bad because its like having a GPS. The cars in front of you arent completely out of your vision. And with the talking to your Google Glass it might be even better than texting.

this comment almost exactly the same was made on several forums on the topic of the glasses. its flawed. most people could see the difference between one mans secret ambition to record an event illegally with a cheap low quality spy camera in some fairly ugly frames VS 6 Billion people, permanently connected to the web via their eyes, instant upload and formatting in HD for the 'lol'

destroy someones life for the 'lol' on facebook or youtube great idea thumb.gif

people shouldn't walk so blindly into these things without considering the ramifications, google arent your friends you know? Were not talking tacky cheap spy cameras, were talking eventual integration with perscription glasses where by the owner themselves don't know that they are 'hacked' and its not google that are staring through your eyes in your own home its the NSA ( perfectly possible right now and it all goes into their big data center in UTAH) this is a friendly way of removing that last shred of privacy

the human right violation comes from when your being recorded in a restaurant, at the bar, in your car, through your home windows, over the garden fence "AND" being JUDGED globally and segmented socially as a person type, because thats what people do... welcome to humanity. this just gives people so many more reasons to be d1ck5 about things

If you think about it, it's good that Google is forcing these issue to be addressed now. In another 10+ years the technology will be in the form of a contact lens or brain implant and you really will have no idea when your being recorded.

In the not-so-far future we will have a "eye-up-display" that will augment our perception of the environment. Right now I doubt the Glass can be much more than a distraction. 100% for banning it while driving. There is a reason there is a weapon's operator in attack helis operating the rotating turrets etc and not the pilot.

Still HUDs and augmented reality devices are and will be used more and more often, till things stop being a separate device and will be interfacing with our optical and acoustical nerves directly.
In so many ways this is not a bad thing.

The pros for what the Glass can be, far outweigh the cons. Can it be used by perverts? Sure. So do regular miniature or full size cameras.

Banning them from some spaces is a temporary solution - simply because you cannot ban the douches directly, but actually that's whats happening. I would love to ban my insecure friends from FB that have to tag themselves or check in even @ the frikkin butcher shop. Yes, this is the #1 reason smartphones are big...facebook trolling, ways not to do your boring job, instagramming your pathetic pictures and then feeling hip and important and published etc.

Is the smartphone useless because 95% (ok, maybe more) of the population is craving attention though them?
Are guns useless because the 95% (ok, maybe more) of the ppl who poses them privately are morons and should not be allowed?
Will Google Glass be useless because it enables douches being more douches?

I agree that privacy protection is the last thing MD and any other mega-corp is after banning the Glass...just a PR trick for shifting the burden in case the stupid clients that cannot figure out that the hot coffee they've ordered is really hot, find the need to sue claiming them responsible for losing their job/wife/license/erection and who knows that else those parasitic attorneys might enable them to sue for cause they where filmed in the wrong place the wrong time.

I say ban social media douches biggrin.gif

I think that the kinds of places listed make sense since they don't want people filming for either privacy concerns or self-profit. In the case of driving, we already have people getting into serious accidents because of mobile devices let alone ones that obstruct vision. As for McDonald's, I think that this explains how comfortable they are with the quality of their food services.

Eventually Google glasses will just be contacts or just normal-looking glasses and all of this will be a a bigger problem. We can't avoid the inevitable.
