Issues with Intel GPU

I recently upgraded to an Intel setup with a 3570K in a Z77X-D3H with 8GB of low cost Kingston 1600's. Set it up with no problems, running smooth, happy with performance.

About a week after a friend told me about VirtuMVP and I decided to try it. More performance and cheat vsync sounded awesome. So I go to enable the onboard GPU, restart. It posts, then after the Gigabyte splash nothing happens. It then restarts and continues this cycle into oblivion. I can get into the bios by spamming del as it restarts.

I have tried enabling the HD4000 with and without the 6870 physically installed, and with the monitor plugged into either. No deal. The PSU was a possible culprit but i have personally ruled that out as the HD4000 didnt work with the 6870 uninstalled either. Calculating watts implies power is not the issue. All I know is that enabling the HD4000 ceases my ability to boot at all, whether the video is running through it or not.

Am I missing something here, being this is my first Intel setup? Or is the IGP on the 3570K busted?

Have you tried disable IGP? since you problem started with enabling it why not remove it and see if it fixes the problem.

Highly unlikely for you to fry the IGP or have a busted one out of the box , try disable the IGP and boot from your 6870. Updating to the latest motherboard Bios & IGP driver should fix it, if it doesn't return the CPU. First time a case like this.

Never had it installed brah. You need the internal GPU to actually show up to install its drivers, let alone VirtuMVP.

Clarify, my issue has nothing to do with VirtuMVP, at all. It is merely the reason I want to do this.

The HD4000 on my 3570K is not working properly. I cannot boot with it enabled in the bios.

I think he WANTS to use it. (maybe just once for trying)

I'm not familiar with it, but isn't their any (motherboard) driver needed? Or some BIOS setting to fully use it? redface.gif

Are you saying that was a DVD of drivers and applications and not a Gigabyte themed coaster?

But seriously, necessary?

What?

The issue is probably motherboard Bios/ IGP Driver related, if that's the case then your best bet is probably call Intel and state you can't get past POST with the IGP, their customer service will take care of you.
