Look at the increase in frequency, number of shader cores and other rhings and, THEN, look at the increase in performance. The GTX680 is scaled around 10-15% (frequency, shaders... everything), and it gains around 10-15% extra performance.

What do you think will happen with 780 vs Titan, when you are going from 23xx to 25xx (10% increase, more or less), and a slight increase in clocks? You need to make improvements across the whole thing to get any changes at all... or you will end up in a bottleneck situations. Sure, in some tests you will get all the bonus, but in some you will get none. You can't simply add more SMX, not add any frequency, and say that the improvements are linear, because they aren't.
At the same clocks with 2 smx clusters less and less tmu's it won't fall within 3 to 4 % of the Titan.
It doesn't take a genius to figure that

It's going to be an interesting weekend lol. Anyone know when the NDA lifts? Specifically in PST?

People should buy some lube now before it's too late. Nvidias MSRP is coming and it doesn't care if it's your first time it won't be gentle lol.

Like the article says, seems it's landing at a $650-$700 price. Bah, I was hoping for $599, it's going to be expensive here in Sweden. frown.gif

$450 - GTX680 and 7970GE
$350 - GTX670 and 7950

AMD is winning in both camps... yet NVIDIA keeps the price-scheme and, even more so, AMD is offering a fantastic bundle. At $450 you not only get the best single-gpu solution (sans Titan, but let's not account for it now), you ALSO get some fantastic games with your buy. And even though the performance AND the bundle... NVIDIA sits at the same price... and its always been the same.

Depends on how you define "winning" and what perspective you're looking at it from.

Since NVIDIA has sold 69.8% more 680s than AMD has sold 7970s and 118.7% more 670s than AMD has sold 7950s (not to mention 10% more 670s than 7950s and 7970s combined), I'd say that from their perspective that they're winning.

Looking at this with my "business hat" on, I don't see any reason why NVIDIA would need to lower prices.

Here is the 3DMark Benchmark, again.

well Like I wrote before even that 700$ would be good, since it's only 5% performance less than Titan.
Still if it would be only 599$, it would sell like hot cakes.

It doesn't take a genius to figure that

I was stating a 5-10% increase in performance, I never said anything regarding 3-4%.

Crap, I always forget to be more specific wink.gif When talking about "winning", I was referring solely to "performance/price". So, EVEN WHEN AMD is winning in performance/price AND has a better bundle... NVIDIA is outselling them by a big margin.

Which is the reason why I stated that the GTX770 won't be below 7970 GE's price (probably above it), because NVIDIA doesn't compete in price, it has never done so, and it has no need to start right now. At the same performance, NVIDIA is and has been always more expensive than the competition. Why change your strategy when it has worked pretty well and you are outselling the competition by a nice margin?
