Probably only when you run 3 monitors and require the additional bandwidth. Definately not at 1080p and a slight maybe at 1440.

How much RAM does BF3 use at ultra settings at 1200p anyone?

I've run 2560x1600 60hz for 4 years + a few months (I just now moved to a 96 & 120hz 2560x1440 panel) and it definitely had a measurable impact on performance once I amped up the core speed on my (former) GTX 670. Not a "slight maybe" smile.gif.

I don't remember an exact # off-hand, but 1600P (2560x1600) took anywhere from 1.4-1.8gb of allocation generally for me on 64-player servers, depending on the map. Drop down to 2x MSAA instead of the Ultra's 4x, and that nosedives.

A lot of games scale linearly with memory overclocking on GK104. GK104 is notoriously memory bandwith bottlenecked.

Look at the Anandtech GTX680 review. Alienbabeltech has done some testing in quite a few games with memory overclocking.

Thanks Tiger! Looks like 3Gb is more than enough for bf3.

GenoOCAU, stop raging and go back at school, they forgot to teach you an important lesson.

I'll admit, i didn't know that lol. I mainly look at AMDs benchmarks because they are what i use. My 7970 and 570 didn't rally gain much from memory OC. Good to know. thumb.gif

Yeah, no card that I've had in the past gained anything from memory overclocking either.

How long after the release of GTX 780, can I expect non-reference graphic cards?
For example and foremost from Asus (Direct CU II) GTX 780.

That sounds reference pcb with a non reference cooler therefor it is still a reference card just a different cooler.
