[VC] NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Pictured Up Close (Gallery) - Page 97

According to this, an average looking banana weighs about 9.312 oz (0.582 lbs). So, the rate is 27.65 JD / banana (roughly a US quarter).

If the 780 were selling for (in US):

$500, it would be equivalent to 1809 bananas

$550, it would be equivalent to 1990 bananas

$600, it would be equivalent to 2170 bananas

$650, it would be equivalent to 2351 bananas

$700, it would be equivalent to 2532 bananas

$750, it would be equivalent to 2713 bananas

---

And this is just revenue.

So in short, I hope Nvidia keeps Jamaican banana farmers in mind because that is a lot of bananas.

You, are my hero. I love this!

For the 500th time, new tech replaces old tech at similar price points. Prices don't magically increase just because the replacement is better.

If that was true, we'd be paying trillions of dollars for a 2TB hard drive:

Wish I could travel back in time and sell some obsolete stuff.

Think we are talking about different things tongue.gif

I should have been more clear in my post.  I meant the 770 will be 10% faster than the GTX 680, because of the speed increase (you had said 20-30%, although you may have meant 780?).  The GTX 780 will be ~30% faster than a GTX 680, or ~25% faster than a 7970GE.  That's my guess.  So I think we are on the same page, just weren't clear about which cards we were talking about.

with a funny similarity in all their sigs when you think about it.

Why isn't the 7970GE the HD4870 of the 280 era? Do people forget that Nvidia also has the GTX260 which directly competed with the HD4870 yet still had to lower the price of their flagship? We are basically back at 4870 (7970) vs 260 (770) with the 280(780) above them both, same as last time and same as last time we should see ~$500.

3-4% performance differences... eerrrr $699 anyone?

TITANs are cherry pick binned GPUs from GTX700 family?

Well I have no regret for getting TITAN with 6GB VRAM that is huge compare to 3GB GTX780.

But hey, let's imagine that a GTX780 will cost $499. This is what happens:

-Titan sells will automatically go to the toilet. Who would pay 2x the money, to get the same chip with just 20% more performance? Some would, but a lot less than they did. People with business/compute needs wouldn't, for instance. Also, everybody that bought a Titan will feel terribly insulted, and you don't want to piss your highest payers off.
Sales that is not sells and down not to.
Also Titan is the best of the best that is what you pay the price premium for, these are just your normal line up cards.
For the masses.

it seems (maybe) you pay for "the best of the best", almost double, for a 3% + performance

and if it is confirmed, then, is not to pay for "the best of the best" but for "the huge joke" (Titan)
