You're free to estimate the 770's perf from the 680 but lets please not have a full on 680 vs. 7970 argument. This isn't the place for that.

I was actually kinda looking forward to reading some heated, but civil, red v. green shenanigans in this thread. It's entertaining sometimes.

you're welcome. the only time you might need more than 2GB on a single monitor is in the case of extreme AA levels at 1440p or 1600p, in which case a single card short of a titan is not up to the task anyway. well, maybe if you run games with loads of texture mods or something.

Unless it somehow overclocks better than a 680 and/or is cheaper, I don't see anything here for the overclocking crowd.

If the 770 is just a juiced 680, then I assume it will have almost zero overclocking headroom. My 680 did around +220 on the core and +800 on the memory. If its exactly the same thing, then I would expect the 770 to hit the same OC wall unless they've improved some components or upped the voltage range (doubt it.)

it should score exactly the same as a 680 clock for clock.

I pretty sure the GTX 770 will be a 15% improvement over the GTX 680. Higher TDP?

You'll get a slight boost due to the higher clocks, but if its the same thing then OCed will be identical. Its like AMD putting out the Ghz edition. It'll look good on nvidia's slides during conferences though: "770 beats last gens flagship model" Then they will show the 780 and Titan looming over the older 680, which should have been big kepler to begin with tongue.gif

nope. a 40-50mhz core clock bump and +250 on the memory doesn't give you 15% higher performance. most sources have already said it's around 5% improvement (I assume those "up to 20% faster than 7970ghz" claims on nvidia slides were in hugely biased games, just like we can assume that the 7970ghz will crush the gtx780 in Dirt Showdown), about on par with the 7970ghz out of box.
