Planning a dual 27" setup. In need of advice please.

Thread Starter
So I currently just have a single 24" monitor and want something bigger.

I figured I might as well setup dual monitors while I'm at it.

So I'm looking for two mid range 27" for a dual setup and need some opinions or advice.

I was looking at this monitor here.

AOC e2752Vh Glossy Black Bezel 27" 2ms

It only has one HDMI port and one DVI and one VGA but it has a 2ms response time and is LED backlit.

Please any advice is welcome! biggrin.gif I'm not too familiar with monitor specs and what not. redface.gif

Cheers thumb.gif

I think a couple of questions you are going to get are why dual and what are you using them for? Gaming, dual is really gonna bite with that bezel right in the middle. You mentioned response time so I'm assuming gaming. Also it's 1080p correct? Personally I have a 1440p 27" and I wouldn't be happy with a lower res. Just me though.

Personally I'd go for a single 1440p 27" monitor over dual 1080p 27".

But if you want two monitors, would $460 (the cost of those two monitors) be your upper limit budget-wise?

2x27" is honestly too big...if you plan on perfectly centering them - youre never really focused on one, its hard to explain but basically in order to work with one monitor your head is turned like 25 degrees..it gets annoying after awhile

my 2nd 27" monitor is in portrait mode most of time which is ok for sites with a lot of chronological content like twitter/facebook/reddit

In any case if you really want 2x27" have them both on portrait capable stands

I think 27" and a 23 or 24" would be OK.

I currently have 1x 27" monitor with a 24" monitor on its side and its great for web pages and movies when your doing workstation stuff. ASUS have decent priced 27" monitors @1080P. If you can afford 1440 even better go for it!

Pretty much what these two said. I have a 27" Catleap and a 20" Dell flanking it. Works perfect. Game/work on the 27" and have that other one there for monitoring, watching tv on, tossing something you need to referrence, etc.

I agree that two big (27) monitors side by side is going to be murder on your neck. You're going to be constantly moving your head back and forth in a 45-55 degree arc.

Those particular monitors you identified are only 1920x1080. WAY too low resolution for 27". At that size of monitor I'd look at 2560x1440 resolution.

Well a 27" and a 24" on the side is the route I will take then.

Yeah will use it for some gaming so the response time was something I was worried about.

I guess I didn't consider if I split them I would be staring at the bezel.

Now I can spend more on a 27" and get a cheap 24" for web surfing while I game.

thumb.gif I think you will be much happier going this route. Now have fun choosing your 27".

Since you're going 27 inches for your main monitor I would suggest you get a 1440p korean monitor from ebay and then use the rest of the money to get the 24 inch. I have the exact same setup you're looking for I have a 27 inch 1440p overlord monitor for gaming and web browsing and then a 24 inch monitor to my left for extra stuff its pretty good setup biggrin.gif If you do in fact look into the korean monitors be warned that they require a card with dual link dvi and that dvi will be there only port, however this is good because it really decreases input lag. Another thing to consider is your graphics card because not many games will run at 1440p on a 460. You could go triple monitor for around $600 by using the acer h236hl its an ips panel at 1080p resolution with very thin bezels and being able to get 3 of them for 600$ is a steal in my opinion.
