hi there,

please can anyone tell me if i can have a hdmi cable and a dvi cable plugged into my graphics card and monitor at the same time? i knoe i can not use them both at the same time but i would like to be able to switch between the two when i like.

is this possible or can i only have one plugged in at once?

i would like to be able to use the hdmi when i am on my desktop and playing games that can`t go over 60hz, but would like to switch to dvi when i am playing games that can go over 60hz

I'm trying to think of a reason you would want to do this. What's the difference? Dvi is the better of the two as far as bandwidth afaik. Couldn't you just use dvi and a frame rate limit setting on those certain games?

I had the same monitor and even after calibration with a Spyder 4 pro it still looked like garbage. I sent it back after 2 weeks. If you want a monitor for good web surfing(aka PRON) or photo viewing and movies then you need to get a different monitor like an IPS monitor.

I have to agree with the ips for photo editting. My old dell monitor looks like absolute garbage next to my ips. I don't think the cables are going to make any difference at all. HDMI is nice if you are porting sound through it but as far as picture goes, stick with the DVI.
