P8Z77 V PRO UPDATING ISSUES

Thread Starter
i am confused to how to update my asus motherboard.

i have ai suite II installed into my computer, but when i click check for update.. it sits there for a long time doing nothing.

so i have downloaded the files from their main website, chose , install by file.

after i clicked install by file, it loads, but then is now asking me for a picture file?

- what does the picture file mean or do?
- when downloading an update from the website, do i need to individually download all files after which my bios dated?
- There are 7 files, each stating different updates, do i need to download them all and install them all or will the most recent includ the previous update into one ?

this may help:
Asus Z77 Series Information Thread (drivers, BIOSes, overclocking, reviews) **UPDATED 4/22**

what is this "picture file"? i have no idea what you mean, sorry.

ok, so i accidently clicked yes when it said " do you want to change bios logo"

my remaining questions are

- can i change bios logo to load any picture i want it to display at start?
- how do i fix the auto update instead of update from file?
- do i need to download all previous updates instead of the most recent one to have all the updates?

thank you

thank you for telling me that. but sorry i can't help to change the bios logo since i have the startup logo disabled - i like it the old way where it just shows my ram and cpu speed and my hard drives before booting into windows.

i personally do not trust auto updating, it can cause problems. there really isn't anything that needs updating a lot. just go to the link i posted before and click on the "click to show" for the z77-v pro.
the bios 1908 and then extract it to a flash drive. you update that in the bios under "TOOLS"
the chipset (all three), video for intel graphics (if you use it) audio,LAN, WiFi, usb 3.0 (all 3) and sata (2). i think are all EXE files and update easy. you may need to reboot after each.
the AI Suite II is a zip file you can extract to the desktop, then go into the folder and click on the install file if you like to use it. i tried using the AI Suite II but most of that i didn't use so i uninstalled it.

it does take awhile to do, maybe an hour all together but, once you're done its not something you need to worry much about.

hope it helped.

thanks.

i went to their main website, they show that they have like 8 different updates, but older.

wanted to make sure that when i install the most previous update it will contain all the older ones as well.

so does updating the most recent bios also update... everything else? or do i have to download each individual file to update each to what it specifies that it has updated in that one update?

also.. i am having trouble understanding the usb drivers.

what exactly is asmedia?

do i install asmedia and intel? do they conflict with each other if i download them both?

i am having a problem with my computer recognizing my iphone, and i think it might be the driver that i installed. unsure what to do.. =l

I am very noob. thanks for the help!
the BIOS is just for the BIOS; it won't update anything else.

asmedia is the onboard USB 3.0 along with the the intel USB 2.0/3.0 ports from the Z77 chipset. it would help to install both and they won't conflict with each other. in the BIOS there are settings for the USB - see if you need to enable any to help with your iphone problem. though once in awhile i get some problems with just plugging in a flash drive; i'll have to plug/unplug it a few times to get windows to read it.

but if you're looking at charging your iphone, that is definitely something you need to enable in the BIOS.

you're welcome, we all had to start somewhere thumb.gif

i understand the bios part, what i was trying to ask, sorry that i was unclear =/ but. on their main website has 8 downloads for their bios, each with different descriptions and posting dates. i installed the most recent one, but i was wondering did i need to install all the previous bios updates?

the description of what each bios update does has been different in all 8, the question is. do i need to download all and install all to get all the updated stuff or does the most recent one contain all the updates from the previous one as well?

- i have un plugged it numerous of times.. went through the trouble shoot..

i cant seem to figure out what it is.. i can only seem to think maybe i installed the wrong stuff for the usb?

i will check bios later for the usb stuff..

iphone just doesnt get recognized. i pops up saying " unknown. blah blah
post #9 of 9
the 'microcode" (such as cpu support or system stability) of the previous bios updates are in the latest so you don't need to worry about installing them.

if you're getting an "unknown device" problem, i think that would have to do with windows having a problem than your usb drivers.
