My first graphics card help?

Thread Starter
I am currently building my rig and it is for the most part done, all I need is graphics card! I've been doing a little bit of research and I think I wanna to go the Nvidia route. I wanna go big on this sorta thing and i've heard a new product from Nvidia soon? Anyways I have a 2700K that I scored a good price and a motherboard that can support 2 graphics cards. I also have a 1200W power supply which i'm sure is too big for my system after reading up on how much power this will all really run at...

Anyways i was close to buying a pair of 660's but figured heck, ill ask a computer website!

First of all, what resolution are you gaming at?
What's your budget?
What specific power supply and other components do you have?

Nvidia are set to launch the 700 series very soon, the 780 is coming out on the 23rd of May, the 770 on the 30th and the rest will come soon after that.

I have a 27" 1080P that ill be playing on, from the Power supply it says AX1200W and i believe the brand is corsair?

My budget is $1300 my friend said "get the best so that they can last you a long time" and the other stuff i have on my computer is 16gb of ram and an Asus maximum V motherboard in a big cooler master case.

Oh! and I have another 24" monitor but I don't plan on using that for gaming just on and movies playing why I work.
Sounds like you're building a beast of a system.

For $1300 you have 3 options really -
Get a single GTX Titan
Get two GTX 680s
Wait until the 700 series launches and get two GTX 780s.

The best option would probably be two 780s but we don't know how much they're going to cost yet so it may be more than $1300 for two.

Yes I actually just read some rumor/reviews of the 780 series. They look very good! My buddy just told me not to buy a $1000 gpu but the two 780's would be a great investment for the long run. I imagine ill have to upgrade in like three years or so, but I could probably sell them to get the next version. I have no problem waiting for the 780, I read that it should be released around the 27th this month? Thats not bad.

Rumours point towards them having an MSRP of $599, this is still unconfirmed though.

I would recommend waiting for the 700 series to come out. Two 780's would definently be plenty enough and would be a good investment for the long run.
