You could also go for a 7870 XT (basically a slightly cut down 7950) if you want an intermediate card between the two.

But you can OC the 660 ti too.. from my experience we cant really say anything about the whole amd vs nvidia debate right now because it mostly come down to how well your card can clock. Now AMD are cheaper than the nvidia, but you probably already know that & dont really mind spending a premium since it looks like your settled with the 660 ti.

If you can fit a 660 ti in the budget, go that route. You'll be glad you did. As others pointed out, the 3gb is unnecessary. If the one you want happens to be a 3gb and it's a good deal, ok, but I wouldn't spend any extra for it.

Answering the thread title (if it has not already been answered)...

No. The 650ti Boost can be OCed to only match a stock 660...Here's your proof.. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/EVGA/GTX_650_Ti_Boost_SC/29.html
So at the end of the day, you can only match a stock 660 performance for less money.

If you want a stock 660ti performance for less, buy 1 of the following GTX 660's & OC it:

MSI Twin Frozr IV
ASUS DirectCU II OC (had owned 2 of these but had recently sold 1 of them; got 1 left thinking.gif )
EVGA FTW Sig2

What's your budget?

Almost all GeForce GTX 650 Ti BOOST require only 6-pin PEG connector except Inno3D's iChill edition (which requires 2 of them).

A quality PSU such as Rosewill Capston 450W should be sufficient for mid-range Keplers or HD 7800 series from Radeon.

That said, I highly recommend getting the Radeon HD 7850 instead. Incredible stock performance and they overclock like a champ, not to forget the free popular games you get upon purchase.

Look at the Linustechtips benchmarks. The 7950 beats the 660 ti in most games.

Yet my 670 is taking a dump on my 7970. You will see different results with different cards. It's all about the silicon lottery right now.

as said above the GTX 650 ti boost when overclocked just matches GTX 660 stock.

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GTX_650_Ti_Boost_TF_Gaming/29.html

OP for 250 dollars get a Sapphire HD 7870 XT which uses the Tahiti LE chip. matches a GTX 660 Ti in performance. when overclocked to 1.2 Ghz matches HD 7970(925 Mhz) . excellent price perf.

Congratulation! thumb.gif

They are really sweet cards. Push the memory as far as you can, it gives a huge boost in performance.
