Nintendo = gaming. So I was talking about gaming.

Making profit off of gaming on youtube is a waste of time if you aren't already huge and established like TotalBiscuit or something.

if gamers should not get paid for their gameplay "let's play" videos because nintendo created that game, basketball (or any sports) players should not get paid too because somebody else created that game.

Jesus, the amount of nonsense in this message is colossal.

I'm just leaving this post from NintendoAge over here, in case anyone wants to read it. Except a few people who are a bit shortsighted, there is valuable material over here.

For example, Starcraft.

The game ruleset, graphic, etc. belong to the game company.

So a gameplay footage is a combination of both party, but the replay file is the players.

Sound like another youtuber that don't want to split his profit.

I'm not sure if you actually listened to the whole thing, but it seems that your retort to what he said is almost the same thing he said?

He makes all the points you made in the video.

Gamers didn't have the right to make revenue off playing someone elses games in the first place, Nintendo is just enforcing their rights and doing what they should've done long time ago.
In the early days of youtube when partnership was introduced you had to prove that you have the rights of the content you are showing in your videos and since those guys are playing games not made by themselves, they don't hold any rights. It seems like youtube has gotten lazy.

We make money from ADS or CPM ( clicks per month/1000 ).
Partially correct.
Of course its the views (and hence clicks) per video that will ultimately lead to making money. However, the income is dependant on the amount of views/clicks and thus its undeniable that each additional subscription is going to fetch you more views in upcoming videos leading to more money (at least thats what youtubers are hoping for). Same goes for the "Like button" as higher rated videos are more likely to show up in top search results. Always funny to see hypocrite youtubers say they merely do it for the fans and at the end of each video tell you to "rate, comment and subscribe" rolleyes.gif

Not sure if serious. The reason you buy a game is for your OWN joy and excitement that you get out of it, it's not like you intentionally buy a game in order to promote it, don't play the noble guy here. No one asks you to 'promote' it, its something you choose to do at your own will. So no, unless you sign a contract with the said developer / publisher of a certain game you shouldn't be making any money off of it.

If no revenue was being generated from those videos, Nintendo wouldn't be over the top with it, you're absolutely right.

Nintendo who? rolleyes.gif

Guess that's one way to make more money when you have consoles we don't want and don't buy. I think the last time I had a Nintendo console was the 90's.

I'm wondering if LPers will still get any revenue out of YouTube at all, I know advertising costs go to the big N because of this but what about profit sharing and whatnot.

Also I doubt this'll change much regarding Nintendo videos, many LPers do it for fun mostly to begin with.
