Nintendo has been part of our families for a very, very long time. They were once king of the hill & top dog (a very long time ago) of video games but NOW, it's time to throw in the towel. Their 1st party games are like the repetitive Madden series...It has truly become pathetic thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

I believe that Nintendo would do better in the gaming industry if they primarily focus on hand-held consoles and / or create games for Sony & Microsoft & even the PC.

If Nintendo has too much pride to conform to such madness (in which many would say), then all I have is this to say to Nintendo...

grouphug.gif In order to truly stand a chance against Sony & Microsoft, Nintendo will have to deconstruct in order to reconstruct...Go back to ground zero & start fresh teaching.gif ...The path to recover is to accept defeat 1st...Suck it up Nintendo! You can not sustained from continuously rehashing your 1st party classics.
Nintendo, I'm trying to be positive (thought you were on to something with that Gamecube after that horror story called Nintedo 64 whistle.gif ) but ever since the Wi, my attention span has diminished greatly & just about left me speechless stitchfacesmiley.png

What do you think Nintendo should do?

Really? I knew Nintendo wasn't doing so well off, especially with the economy as it is (and their competitors have other sources of income). But last I heard, they were still making a profit. Nintendo is also a Japanese company, and consoles there are an even bigger deal than they are here. I don't think they'd be willing to throw in the towel any time soon. They just need to innovate better...

Edit: I'd also add a poll option for "Change nothing. Nintendo is doing fine currently and will improve in the future."

I know I'm saying nothing new and I'm not talking about their profit. I don't care about their profit. Why should we? We don't get any of that money...duh! I'm strictly talking about video games...period. So lets stick to that subject. I like Nintendo (more so their 1st party titles). Been playing Nintedo ever since the NES days so please spare the speech about they will do better in the future. The future has been taking place since the creation of the Super NES (which was 1 damn great console) and Nintendo has always been making money from those who believe they will do better in the future....I was 1 of them...Hahahaha! That's always been funny to me.

Playstation & XBOX has done better in the future and still showing progress to do so. So do you truly feel so confident that Nintendo will bring their A game soon?

Mr. Moderator, would you be so kind to add to the poll,
" Nintendo is doing just fine."

No, there are not doing fine in the gaming department...Gotta bring more than their Nintendo 1st party games.

Nintendo Wii U’s market performance suffers because of several factors: its low performance, incoming consoles from major rivals, relatively high price amid lack of games, including those that actually take advantage of Nintendo Wii U’s controller with built-in screen.

SOURCE
Quote:
Nintendo's Wii U sold 55,000 units in April, down 19 percent from March, while the Wii sold 75,000 in April, down 16 percent from last year...Nintendo hit 185,000 sales of its 3DS last month, a 46 percent jump in sales from the previous year, Pachter says. Sony's Vita is down 57 percent from 2012, selling just 30,000 units this April. These are of course the standard Pachter estimates, which can only mean one thing – the official numbers are on their way, via the NPD. Those figures are expected on Thursday.

Nintendo needs to bring the games to the table OR spread them across the table to the competitors OR pull a miracle out of the dark Regarding the hand-held consoles, Nintendo has always done well.

nintendo isnt competing with sony or xbox.. mostly because they dont need to
the Wii sold almost the same amount of units as both ps3 and xbox sales combined.
if you honestly think they need to change up their business, you clearly don't understand the fantastic business model they have.
furthermore they sell more games than both consoles combined.

if anyone should do a restructure, it should first be microsoft.
they actually make you pay to use anything online with the system.
pay for netflix or hulu subscription? you'll also have to pay a fee to even use those on the xbox every month/year.
they lock down the makers of games to use MS servers to host their game server junk..
an example of this was treyarch wanted to make their black ops 2 run on their own dedicated servers for console. microsoft flat out said "no".

That's a matter of opinion. The Wii was created specifically to cater to the casual gaming crowd. This it does very well, and it also makes a pretty good HTPC. You can install emulators for legacy gaming, or maybe you want to watch some TV with the YouTube, Hulu, or Netflix apps.

Then of course there's Super Smash Bros. I wouldn't have cared if the Wii only had like 3 games total as long as Brawl was one of them.

That's Nintendo 's excuse to avoid admitting their defeat. That's what you call a marketing tactic teaching.gif Sega tried the same thing back in the day instead of admitting they were simply broke.

Taking consideration of going all the way back to the NES days...yes, I will agree but just comparing the Wii & Wii U vs PS3 and Xbox...show me the proof whistle.gif ...back up your claim proof.gif

I know, right!? If I had a Wi now, I would only have about 5 to 6 games, all by Nintendo (waiting for that price to drop to $80 smile.gif )
