That's great advice. Actually that's what I did, and I could have probably lived with just lapping my IHS, but I was curious so I just skipped lapping my CPU and removed my IHS. I'm so glad I did, I lost 7 degrees load by removing my IHS. I highly recommend it, but only if your comfortable with doing so. Just remember to run your CPU without doing anything to it first for at least a week or longer to make sure it isn't faulty so you don't void your warranty in case you have problems.
Good luck, for some reason I have a feeling you'll probably end up removing your IHS in the end.....
