Best Speakers to use with a Xonar Pheobus Sound Card.

Thread Starter
I just pulled the trigger on a Xonar Pheobus sound card and now I am wondering what the best set of speakers I can get for it on a $300 CAD budget would be. At minimum I would like a pair of speakers that play well with the full range of the card's abilities. The other requirement is for them not to take up huge amounts of space since that is at a premium for me. confusedsmiley.png

Would these be reasonable to save for? http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX39569
I also edited the budget to show a more reasonable amount of wiggle room for my speakers.

Let me say it straight:
You really did a bad decision on where you put your money. First you choose the speakers/headphones, and then you choose the soundcard.
I picked Xonar DG as my soundcard because I knew that its more than enough to run my DT-770 pro 80ohm headphones.
And Im also using Xonar D1 on my other rig with my Behringer MS40 speakers, the soundcard costed around 40$... Didnt really need it as the mobo had good soundcard already, but got it really cheap.

Orion Pro is one of those "chinajunk" branded headphones. Lots of plastic and hype, but performance/price isnt that great. Also the USB-soundcard that comes with it draws alot of the money out of the quality of the other parts.

With sub 200$ price tag its hard to find anything that gets real benefits from a expensive soundcard. IIRC, the klipsch are pretty good speakers in the low end market.
Im thinking about buying Behringer B3031A Truth speakers and give my old MS40 to my parents for HTPC usage.

Also read: http://www.overclock.net/t/1014902/ocns-most-recommended-audio-products

EDIT: Must ask, checked your rig (blue monster v2.0) and Im confused.
Why does every single piece of equipment seem to be overpriced "brand" stuff when the GPU is meager HD7770? You could easily save ~300$ from PSU, mobo, cooling and RAM without any difference in performance... And you dont even have any speakers if I read right?

I bought those 7770s from a friend before I started building. This is the second go around at my first build. I am still learning a lot but on certain things I didn't want to skimp too much on the quality, PSU, Mobo, and at the time that ram wasn't that bad of a cost. If you look at Blue Monster, that is my current rig, you'll see what I am using now. The H220 isn't in that build because I don't have it yet, nor is any of the other parts that differentiate the builds. V2.0 is a recent decision given the loud sound profile of the current machine when gaming/testing. Same goes for the headset. I may get some better headphones later on down the line, but so far the Orions haven't been too terrible, and the USB sound adapter sounds reasonable as well.
