Hi everybody! This is actually my first post on this forum (edit: apparently not ;p ), though I've been lurking for a long time. Anyway, after reading the threads quite a bit, I'm pretty sure I'm posting in the right place. I imagine I'll use this thread of another month or so as I collect the pieces for the puzzle; and then I'm hoping to do a Build Log as well.

I've been posting on another forum for a while and I've had some people (a couple, specifically) give me some really good tips, a lot of help, and good advice. Honestly, I could probably just make it with their input and have something beautiful. But I figure there's no harm asking around - see if anyone else has any input. I'm open to - and appreciate - any advice or comments. I'm not claiming to be an expert, by any stretch of the imagination.

This is my very first water-cooling build; and I want it to be a good one. The theme I'm going with is something along the lines of "No Expense Spared, But No Money Wasted." - However, I'm willing to throw a little extra money toward aesthetics. Basically, I want something nice - and if spending 50% more gives me a product that is 50% better, I'm most likely willing to make the splurge. But I don't want to drop 50% more on an upgrade that will barely give me a 10% performance boost. I figure the build will end up running a pretty penny - but there's a threshold that's not worth passing, in my opinion - where your money just goes into a pit that will be outdated in 12 months, anyway. I know some of you can drop $5K on this stuff like it's nothing - I'm not there, yet. But within reason, I'd like something nice.

Anyhoo, currently I have in my possession:

Little Devil PC-V7 (Matte Black Exterior/Gloss Red Interior)
2x 4GB GTX670
Blu-Ray Burner
128GB M4 for boot/OS
480GB Mercury Extreme for games
60GB Agility 3 for scratch drive/junk

On its way are:

760W Seasonic Modular Powersupply
White/Red PsychoSleeve cables (Got a really good deal on these; normally couldn't afford)

What I'm waiting on:

Haswell i7
New Motherboard (not sure which one, yet)

What I'm debating on:

Fans
Watercooling equipment
RAM

***

I want to stick with a red & black interior, with white highlights/accents.I'm thinking something like:

Red aluminum frame
Black & red mobo
White Ram (anybody have suggestions? I can't find any except the low voltage Corsair Vengeance)
White & Red cables
White screw covers
White tubing
Red monsoon compression fittings
Black Radiators
White Fans

This is a picture of my case with a very rough sketch draft of how I'm thinking of setting things up. Note that the front hard drives and radiator are covered by a red sheath.

Blue boxes = radiator (360mm on top, 240mm on front)
Blue lines = tubing
White = fans
Aqua blue = pump/reservoir

It's a little messy; but I think if I could get good cuts and perfect lengths with the tubing, it could look really good.

I don't think I'm gonna use the top hard drive cage - as the bottom will hold my two SSDs and any hard drives I decide to add.

So I'll set the pump/res on top the bottom cage. Then, the case comes with a metal "shroud" that will completely hide the cage, pump, and front radiator - so you can imagine any of that being not-visible.

I'm thinking...

PUMP/RES -> 240mm front rad -> CPU -> 360mm top rad -> (gravity starts kicking in) -> GPU(s) -> PUMP/RES

Thoughts?

Also - I want to have fans on the interior of the case. All my reading suggests there is little difference between a push or pull; for aesthetics, I want white fans that are visible. Furthermore, that last stand-alone fan.... in an air rig, I'd have that as an exhaust... always. But should it be an intake in this case?

Here's what my cart is looking like for cooling:

Anyway - remember, I'm a noob. So any suggestions are appreciated. Any comments welcome. Just lemme know.

Looks like you're going to get a ton of resistance from that front radiator. IMO you would be better off without that HDD cage.

It's a beautiful case - love it. Very sturdy. Very light. Lots of room. And the matte finish on the outside and the gloss red on the interior are gorgeous. Wish it had room for a 480 on the top; but otherwise, it's perfect.

I measured, and I think even with the fans I'll still have nearly two inches of space between the radiator/fan and the cage. I gotta keep one, I think - but I may be able to do without the top.

Well, just made my first set of watercooling purchases a few minutes ago :-)

You'll soon see how many changes come to mind on your first water build tongue.gif

I spent about $300 changing my mind lol
