A good Radeon HD 7950 that's not voltage locked? - Page 2

Ugh, this is a hard choice. Why is there always something dark under the light tongue.gif

Just how different in performance is the IceQ X2 to any of those you just mentioned? I do care about service... But a working X2 looks like a quality product.

So far I am considering these as options:

HIS IceQ X2: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161429
Sapphire Dual X: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202026
Sapphire Vapor X: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202003

After research as always, and not being able to locate an ASUS card, I chose sapphire because they have always been good for me.
But if I were to by another 7000 card it would be the his, read a lot of good things about them recently, but make sure you have enough room the his 7950 is one of the longest in its class.

Doing some research as well point to the Vapor X being voltage locked.

What is with this trend nowadays?

Most are locked...Get msi twin frozr's from Newegg for 319 + 10 rebate.
Or HIS cards like the X2 Turbo, but I'd reccomend the Msi since it's a slightly better clocker.

OP ask about the HIS HD 7950 iceq x2 in the HD 7900 users thread. its a very good card. if you chose Sapphire do not get the Sapphire dual x which you have picked. its model no is 11196-19-20G. custom PCB with no VRM temp sensors. go with the Sapphire dual x 11196-16-20G. reference HD 7950 design. has VRM temp sensors. unlocked voltage. card is slightly longer at 29 cm.

My case can carry up to 33cm, so that won't be a problem.

Other than the previously mentioned HIS crappy service, I am heavily leaning towards it.

Like I said before iceqx2 or vapor x

Is the vapor-x that much better than the dual-x?

I personally would avoid those and stick to the new msi twin frozr's you can find at Newegg.
They have unlocked voltages for mem and core, vrm passive cooling and sensors, hynix ram and overclock real high on average.
HIS cards are nice too, but some perform worse than Msi or GB cards at the same clocks (might be memory related, and depends on the card)

edit:: NVM, I'm was thinking of the 7970 version tongue.gif
