So first up, the frame with a mirror acrylic inside and the LED strip attached to the sides. Then:

On top of that we install a plain thick block of acrylic which has been scored

And finally a white piece of acrylic on the top. And this is the final product:

The controller can dim the lights, can brighten it up and do about 13-14 different colors, which you can change according to the theme you want. It can also do a bunch of other stuff, but I am not getting into that right now.

Next is the moment of truth. Will it fit? Are the dimensions right? It looks a bit bigger than I thought. But hopefully it will be fine.

Thats looking good. I'm working on my panel wright now. Just when i llok at yours i wunder howe the corners wil be. thumb.gif

I did the scoring with a acrylic cutting tool and a scale. The scoring is to make the light more even. Just search for acrylic cutting tool. It's like a blade.

Thanks Barefooter and yoi.

And finally into the box. It fits, but its a bit tight. A bit difficult to put in and take out, but overall I am happy with the outcome.

Now, the box will also have a fan underneath it. I have already installed the fan and also a filter which is removable from the outside. That way I can reduce the amount of dust going in and can also clean the filter easily. Work has started on a new sata power cable as well.

Now, the confusion and why the sleeving is all halfway there is because I hear a ton of bad press about the Haswell, specifically about the fact that they used crappy TIM again and delidding will be more difficult this time around. SHould I just continue with the IB I have (already delidded) and just get a brand new spanking board? That way I will have more funds as well when I plan the new GPU.

The other issue I have is the color scheme. I guess I will have to wait for a couple of days to finally figure out which way to head, but suggestions are most welcome.

You were asking about brighter led strip.....I've got some 3528 double density (120 led/m) waterproof strip and it's pretty bright. So if you are using the 60 led/m strip then you can def go brighter.
The only advantage I see to the non waterproof strip is adhesive backing that some have. My plan is to use some Scotch double sided tape to mount mine.
Also I won't be using the scored panel, I have some acrylite coming which is supposed to edge light very well........we'll see!

I think if you laid some cover around the edge of yours it might possible help focus the led's more? I don't know, only that the individual led's can be easily seen on yours. Doesn't bother me, it might some people.

Like that you used the black acrylic as a box. I have some myself I was going to use but I'm afraid it's too thick for the size of my precut panel. But I have some acrylic cement and I might cobble something together so it can be dropped in as a unit.....I have all kinds of acrylic sheet scrap laying around.

Anyway, good job on your part and it looks nice. wink.gif

Thanks for the idea mandrix. and thanks Zooty cat.

It really looks like that in pictures. If you look at it normally you really cant make out the individual LED's the way it shows in the pictures.

Anyway, I think this part is now done...

Moving on, am still struggling with the main concept and color scheme...so thats something that I need to put my head to.,

Thanks man...

Now, with Haswell being a damp squib..I need some recommendations on a new Z77 mobo, which will also be the source of the colors and theme....ideas are most welcome.
