[Joystiq] Batman: Arkham Origins stars Roger Craig Smith as Batman, Troy Baker as Joker. - Edited previous thread.

Apparently the source of our last Arkham Origins voice-actor news, the writers of NAG Magazine, had jumped the gun on announcing that Kevin Conroy was not voicing Batman in Arkham Origins.
During a Q&A session at Dallas Comic-Con, Kevin Conroy has announced that he has been working on the “Next Arkham game” for the past “nine or ten months”. He discusses the Non-Disclosure Agreement that the actors signed and the success of the games briefly at the beginning of the Q&A.

There has to be no doubt that he's referring to Origins since he said "it's just recently been announced". So...

Source

He talks about the unnamed game in the first 3-5mins.

Quote:
Warner Bros. revealed Batman: Arkham Origins is fronted by two of gaming's most prominent voice actors. Roger Craig Smith is confirmed as the caped crusader, and Troy Baker is his nemesis, the Joker.

The news follows apparent confirmation long-time Batman vocalist Kevin Conroy does star in Origins, but how he features remains to be seen. We know Origins deals with Batman's "initiation into that insane world" of the other Arkham games, so perhaps Conroy's role is something retrospective. Even if Conroy doesn't play the dark knight in any sense in Origins, to fans he's still the goddamn Batman.

Hmm... So Kevin Conroy is going to be involved somehow, but just not as the Batman we're seeing... I guess we shall see.

Glad he's still voicing batman. Makes the games more enjoyable having grown up with him voicing batman in the 90' batman cartoons.

Same, I have grown up with this guy and would be vastly disappointed if they got some other guy to fill in. I know it will happen some day lol, but this one of those counting our graces opportunities that we dont often have in recent years.

I have seen another source which said that Roger Craig Smith will be voicing the Caped Crusader. I guess it is a different game then.

I didn't grow with the cartoon; that is before my time (I am born '97) and I never had Cartoon Network, only Fox Kids which ran reruns of Spiderman TAS and Pokemon reruns, since there wasn't much else, but I did watch all the episodes and I do love Conroy's voice as the Batman. Very fitting and I as I have both games and seen nearly all the Batman animated films, I must say it would be a pity if he wouldn't play Batman. Although a younger version of Batman might be needed as this is a PREQUEL, remember that guys.

Yea, Gamespot has confirmed that he's not doing Batman, but is involved with the game. Possibly he's narrating or something. Either that or he got confused and accidentally announced Rocksteady's next Batman game lol.

He still is the best voice of Batman/Bruce Wayne I have heard and I am glad he is associated with the new Arkham game. It just isn't Batman without Kevin Conroy.

Oh hell yea! I grew up with the series but when they changed it I kind of stopped watching. Then picked up again in Batman Beyond. Every time I picture batman speaking it's always that dude in my mind, not Christian Bale or George Clooney (bleh). Although sometimes Michael Keaton. Did the guy who voiced the joker, I think his last name was Hammilton also voice the joker in Arkham city? Because they sounded very very similar but I wasn't 100%.

I believe you're thinking of Mark Hamill, aka Luke Skywalker from the Star wars movies, and yes he's been the voice of the Joker in all the Rocksteady Games, but supposively he is now retired from doing the Joker voices..I believe I read that somewhere

(V) and I actually had a discussion about Hamill's retirement the other day. Hamill didn't want to run the Joker into the ground because he grew very attached to the character. He would love to do a voice over of Batman: The Killing Joke, but in reality he would only come out of "retirement" if the experience was worthy and fit the Joker and not just a meaningless appearance just for kicks like DCUO or Injustice (Hamill was not part of Injustice, but it is what I mean about a meaningless experience <===My Opinion).
