Docking Station for LAN Rigs

Thread Starter
Hiya, I had an awesome idea the other day. Sort of like those proprietary business docking stations for laptops, except for a desktop. So, rather than go through the 10 minute process of fixing your setup, you can just whack down the computer onto the station, and away you go.

Has anyone done this before?

Never heard of it before but I would imagine it wouldn't be to hard to do although I wouldn't try it (not good with mods like that). Just mount things in the exact right spot on a backer of some type and just slide the case into place? Good idea but lots of work when it takes less than a minute to hook up again, unless one is colorblind then takes a bit longer i'd imagine.

10 minutes? Just how much stuff are you hooking up, son?

I personally don't think it'd be a good idea. The biggest reason here is you're dealing with 110v AC current to attach to the power supply. You would need a set of mechanical contacts for every connection.

I'd look at reducing your cabling as much as possible. See if you can combine USB connections into a hub. Use an optical cable for your speaker connection.
