a 4.5' display but with those big bezels its the size of a 5", I like the design but for 400 euros, that seems a hefty price to pay, plus there is no info on the specs

Unique intuitive controls. It's unlike the home/back, double tap for close/multask experience. Of course much more, but I think they have no chance to capture any audience outside of asia/europe, to be of any significance.

It's unfortunate that you might be correct. I would love this OS as an option in the states, assuming I could get a different device running it.

As much as I like the N9, it isn't worth $200 to me. I like the N950 for the keyboard, but it isn't available on ebay.

'Jolla: Ex-Nokia employees launch smartphone

A team of ex-Nokia employees has released the first handset running on a new smartphone platform.
The Jolla phone - pronounced Yol-la - is powered by open-source operating system Sailfish, but can run most apps designed for Google's Android platform.
[...]
Just 450 Jolla phones will be available at launch on Wednesday evening, with the majority going to customers who have pre-ordered the device.
Co-founder Marc Dillon told the BBC the company was in the process of ramping up manufacturing.
He said the phone's ethos was to provide a more "open" approach to how people used their mobiles, a contrast to the relatively closed systems used on the iPhone and, to a lesser extent, Android devices.
"There's different opportunities for people to get apps form different places, different stores," he said.
"We've created a world-class platform. Users will be getting more choice."'

AH to you people who says what this has over a rooted android, well, it has an i2c connector at the back that can be connected to anything that talks to i2c. So the cover isn't just for fancy-schmancy wink.gif The purest and simplest use of the cover is it can change wallpaper according to the cover's colour (not really useful) AND change profiles instantly. The practicality is hard to answer, not many people will bring different covers around but 1 or 2 extra won't hurt wink.gif So, a qwerty keyboard is very possible, along with an e-ink display that talks with i2c. HOWEVER, the latency is still rather unknown.
