Also Samsung are WAAAAAY faster at releasing updates for their phones.
good to know! biggrin.gif

Really though, Samsung has been pumping out some great stuff too, if someone snuck in my house overnight and switched my Lumia 822 for a Galaxy Note 2, i doubt I'd complain lol.
very true biggrin.gif they have been releasing alot of great devices for many markets and price points (i think i read a spec a few weeks ago where 95% of wp8 was nokia). I was hopping for the nokia 925 to move to AT&T with larger internal memory, but no dice frown.gif

Haha, ive heard that windows phone is pretty simple in comparison to android, did you notice that ?

Microsofts phones offer some of this to a limited extent, but I found it.. clunky.

And some way to ring the phone remotely? Yeah, get a phone and call it lol
ah okay, so everything i guess is in the whole "cloud", and syncs up with tablets, phones and chromebooks etc

tongue.gif usually i would call but sometimes i have my phone on silent frown.gif which makes it more difficult to locate

As the owner of an S3, i'd definitely take the One over the S4.

Samsung's Touchwiz is forever unfinished. There's no styling continuity, it's ugly, some apps are antiquated and 90% of them you'll never use.

Sense may be a resource hog but at least it's gorgeous. The phone hardware is too..

Hmmm is the the difference between 4.1.2 (htc) and 4.2.2 (samsung) that different? Or do the OS's greatly vary between manufactures? I mostly thought that its just apps that vary between the makers, although from some past apps i used from samsung .. they were kinda lack luster (from wp7, Focus/Focus s) and htc did provide much more useful apps (HTC titain)

You can also buy the galaxy s4 that comes from google, it doesn't have any trace of touchwiz since its a complete stock android experience, just like a nexus device but with the s4 internals and outside look.

The only thing is that it's going to cost $650.

I would say that's about right, but keep in mind, when I say WP8 is simple, I don't at all mean it's less functional. I have yet to encounter anything I can't do on WP8 that I could on Android, or vice versa. What it comes down to is Android offers an unprecedented level of customization and tweakability , at the cost of messy design and a lack of standardization, WP8 is designed to work in the best and most logical way possible, while allowing for some personalization, and then there's the iPhone, which does things however it damn pleases, and only that way, get used to it...that's basically the current big three in a nutshell now that WP8 is trying to slip into the space left by RIM.

If you want to stick with windows phone have a look at the Samsung ATIV S, I was goign to buy one until the Nexus 4 came out rolleyes.gif Not sure if it's available in the US though... tiredsmiley.gif

But if you do want to go Android my vote defiantly goes for the HTC One or Nexus 4 thumb.gif Samsung just bundles to much crap onto their phones and this is coming from an ex-fanboy biggrin.gif Also the plastic finsih is just... meh jealoussmiley.gif

The skins vary and preloaded apps vary, some have different features. But beyond the surface they're the same. Everything works largely the same, sync is still there, very few phones have google featuers actually taken out.

The differences between 4.1.and 4.2 are pretty minimal, i wouldn't concern yourself with that.

Ativ S is a joke...Samsung has even flat out said they never had any intention on betting big on Windows 8, put out phones but didn't strive to make them killer.

Thanks guys, looks like HTC is back in the running. I could probably live without induction charging, and would probably move towards the 64gb version on AT&T.

Some benefits to the HTC one:
- a better UI (htc sense vs samsung touchwiz)
- Much more durable build
- Possible better audio quality (...beats? *shiver*)
- Blinkfeed (kinda sounds like live tiles?)

Of course as said before i do love AMOLED screens but from what ive read on reviews both phones have great color, Kind of bummer with the lack of a expandable memory, 13mp camera and i think the samsung may be a bit thinner. I do go caseless on my phones (so far ive broken 2 of my phones, both samsung) which the more rugged body may be a huge benefit. Ahh decisions

Overall i loved the design of the ATIVs from some of the photos shown but it wont be coming to AT&T so i would loose out on the subsidized rate frown.gif lately i tend to change phones every 8-14 months so i dont think going towards a unlocked version would be cost effective. tongue.gif Like i said before the EOS (or a possible another flagship from htc?) would probably keep me on ship for windows

side question: Also what would be a good overall tablet maxing at about the $500 range? I currently was looking at the note 8.0 after playing around with some at best buy (the 7 inch screens was a little small i felt). Are there any up coming tablets i should be considering?

Thanks again guys, this thread has been really helpful for me biggrin.gif
