Your first mistake was buying alienware. There are several other manufacturers that build some insanely beast gaming laptops.

I know, but it was the only option with a global warranty. Also, gaming laptops battery suck, they are usually too heavy to carry around (most powerful ones at least), and they all have temperature issues.

That is nothing for 780, its supposed to be high end now if this was the 770 or 760 ti or however they scheme it that should be more around 300 to 400. 780 though is supposed to be top of the line and that site is known for being way higher than most places.

while overpriced because it is alienware, it doesn't excuse poor video card performance. that would be like buying a mac with a ****ty graphics card and saying it is cause it is apple that the card isn't good. (dont like apple btw lol)

It is apple's fault, for selling it with a crap video card. And it is the buyers fault for buying it. But I don't see why your post has any relevance whatsoever.

Of course a gaming laptop is going to have crap battery life, but saying that we should just stick to a cell phone for mobile gaming is absurd. If someone wants to buy a gaming laptop, they should be plainly aware that more performance comes at a premium both on price and battery life.

oh yeah you are right, it wouldn't be ATIs fault for not releasing good drivers on a "top tier" card (at the time) or anything it was purely cause the card was in an alien ware that he had a bad experience. my bad.

Nobody is arguing that fact either, but if alienware was alienware instead of dell they would probably hesitate to use hardware that will make them look bad. Now nobody cares.

Guys, Try to stay on topic, we don't want to rustle the jimmies of the mods

And I really hope the $599 price is true, if a 5gb version is over $650, over to AMD i go, the prices should be down by the time I'm ready to buy anyway

For now, I'll get a 7870 to tide me over until the aftermath of the storm

The cheapest Evga 680 4GB (Reference for watercooling) I found was 550.
If the 780 5GB/6GB was 650, I'd get it in a heartbeat.
