Another 1440p vs 120hz or 144hz) thread lol - Page 3

I'm going to be the contrarian and say triple 1440p. It's so huge it's crazy awesome. Once I replace my desk I'll snag a third PB278Q (ran triples for 5 days while advanced RMAing one PB278Q for lightbleed through Amazon). The hugeness of the setup is hard to explain. On a 63" wide desk, at a 30* angle the two outside monitors will overhang by 5" on each side. With that much beautiful colorful light there's no reason to go outside ever again.

4-way scaling makes pandas cry.

Past 3 cards, the 4th either does nothing or in some cases hurts performance.

2 Titans. Scales much better for 3-monitor gameplay.

And, that way, you can use LightBoost more easily, if you decide to go that route. (LightBoost is an nVidia technology)

The only difference between the two is the BIOS. My non-SC titans boosted to 1005MHz without any tweaks,. overclocking, afterburner, precisionX etc etc. Right out of the box a non-SC boosts to ~983MHz and an SC boosts to ~1035-1043MHz. Both cards are identical in every way other than that. With a modified BIOS I'm hitting 1215MHz on both cards stable in all games I've played.

Yea I could just flash it if I wanted to.

I really want a 120hz monitor, but if I could get an IPS screen that could do it, that'd be awesome. But how regularly do Korean monitors OC - do they ALL OC to 120 hz? Because if they don't, then I'll just go 120hz TN.

EDIT: It's worth noting that I don't have an Nvidia GPU, so I can't do the lightboost hack. So I give zero ****s about light-boost.

If you want a 120hz monitor, get a 120hz monitor. The overclockable koreans are not 120hz monitors. Put it this way; if given the choice between a 120hz 1080p tn, vs a 60hz 1440p IPS, you would choose the 120hz TN, then get the 120hz TN. If you would rather take a 60hz 1440p IPS over a 1080p TN, or you can't decide, by all means go for the overclockable 1440p IPS korean monitor (Qnix/Xstar).
