2500K IMC questions

Thread Starter
I have a very weird problem that I can not figure out. Just to get all crap out of the way, yes i'm overclocking, and i've tested both prime 95 and intel burn test for a few days stable. No bsod's, and no errors. That being said I have my cpu @ 4.5ghz. I own the z77x-ud5h, and I know this board supports up to 1600 mhz and higher ram. Now my issue is this, every time i turn my pc off for a long time, not a set number of hours let just say over night. The next morning I turn it on, I get bursts of powers on then powers off. Well this might occur about 3 or 4 times before finally booting into windows. Sometimes i get a incorrect bios setting or hardware failure, and it asks me to load defaults or enter bios. So i enter bios click save then windows boots fine. I've spent countless hours on the phone with gigabyte with no help. They tell me bios has incorrect settings and could be memory related. Well j gee whiz that helpful. So I call corsair, they recommend putting my ram to 1.65, this is where i draw the line and start to get frustrated. Here i buy 1600 mhz ram rated to run at 1.5 volts and I can't get this. I noticed a few things I learned today. 2500k only support up to 1333 mhz, but i know for a fact people on here run 1600 mhz no problems. So could my inte l intergrated memory controller be shot, becuase it runs fine at 1333. No issues no reboots. Only at xmp values of 1600 mhz.. Why would I need to increase voltage on ram to make something stable at its default speeds? Is there a setting to increase voltage for integrated memory controller. Any way after this rant, am I forced to run ram at 1333 or could i be doing something wrong. i've tried two separate kits with same results., that both pass memtest. So i'm dumbfounded and don't have any answers.

i feel your pain bro. not all the time do things work as expected or stated and i am left with a "well, what did i pay for?!?!" thought.

without knowing your mobo specifically, it just may not be a IMC problem but maybe it shows 1.5 volts for the ram but giving slightly less. - though i believe mobos actually give a slight more . .

the VCCIO is the voltage for the IMC but the only times i have seen that adjusted is to stabilize an overclock or when giving more voltage to the ram. it won't hurt anything to bump it up for testing, or i would also suggest giving the ram voltage a bump up to 1.55 first to see if that helps before jumping to 1.65.

oh, but have to tried re flashing your BIOS????
