[ChinaDIY]The default fully loaded breaking 100 ° C i7-4770K retail air-cooled overclocking experience - Page 13

I wonder if they just designed the silicone to take more heat.. like raised the thermal threshold much higher than we would expect.. maybe?

I would really like them to remove on die graphics from the top tier processors or just put a real basic gpu on die that doesn't add much heat- that can basically just be used to compute not really run actual 3d graphics..

on die is still a joke compared to discrete hi-end offerings.

Do you have any reasonable proofs, for example can you provide a proper analysis of what he said that would prove he's a marketing guy?

I prefer when the card is discrete because I can run stuff asynchronously. Compute on CPU die would only slow things down. It would be much better to have a specialized units integrated directly into CPU dataline, than using on-die GFX card. Not to mention GFX is using FP32, and I use mainly int or long aka i32 or i/u64.

You read it wrong LOL because on the Internet everyone is a detective or otherwise qualified to say that someone else is wrong/misinformed/lying, but without any evidence of course wink.gif

It had nothing to do with lying, detectives, or evidence. Stop dramatising. It had everything to do with some random guy posting that he is an authority on a subject when he is completely anonymous and has no credibility. It's reddit, lol. Do we get news articles from 4chan too?

In that case you either missed the Intel blue badge (picture) or that has to be fake too.

It was a pretty well advertised AMA, if I remember correctly, including on a bunch of tech sites.  I doubt Intel would have remained silent if it was just some schmo pretending to work for Intel.

The reasonable proof that Reddit is a sweltering cesspool of pseudo-intellectuals getting spoon fed pandering content for advertising money and that AMAs and such are commonly just promotional stints are that:

You clearly don't remember the whole Rampart thing, where Woody Harrelson did an AMA and it was basically "I'm here to promote my movie, not asking any questions not regarding my movie." and the horrible back-lash that stemmed from it. But it basically proved that

1. AMAs are used as a form of promotion
2. If you are obvious with it, reddit will flip out, so you need to be stealthy with it

More evidence is the fact that if you simply googling buying reddit upvotes, there's lots of services that, for a hefty fee, will upvote your content. Do you think people are paying these rates just for karma? It's for money and advertising

Then there's /r/hailcorporate. They're a little out there last I checked (I quit reddit because it's horrible and full of idiots), but they do nail things sometimes and there'll be definite advertisements that get busted.

And finally there's a subset of people who actually know it's entirely possible to do this. I found this in a few minutes: http://www.1stwebdesigner.com/design/a-short-introduction-to-reddit/ but I've seen plenty of advertising agencies offer challenges to get hired, like "get our product the most exposure on reddit through a viral advertisement." Paying for things is for suckers for the most part and if you think these guys are just going to pay instead of just making viral stuff, you're crazy.

If you think Reddit is some sort of free, anti-corporate democracy, you're wrong. It's a fake free, anti-corporate democracy driven by folks who want to make money while telling everyone that they hate money grabbers and that all the users are special and important.

Would it be possible to shut off the IGPU in the bios like hyperthreading? I thought the IGPU was integrated graphics making it useless for gamers right?

Modern CPU power management involves cutting power to large chunks of the processor when it makes sense to do so, based on whatever tasks you're asking your device to do. Intel can manage power almost to the transistor level by using a special processing unit built directly inside the main CPU--Intel calls it the Power Control Unit. The PCU looks at which parts of the processor aren't being used, and can turn individual parts on and off as needed.

I'll wait for more reviews. I'm betting CPU in OP article was using onboard graphics for any testing
