First of all, hello everyone. I was debating on buying a 780GTX once it comes out, but I began reading up on Maxwell due out sometime next year and figured why not wait. So I've decided to stick w/ my GTX580 for and try and OC a little more till I'm ready for a the next next series.

I've been reading through the forums and came across the CPU cooler mod that everyone is trying out. I've noticed recently during a cleaning of my system that TIM is pretty sloppy and figured this would be the perfect opportunity. I've read there are at least 3 main coolers out so far(I know there's more). The Antec 620, Corsair H80, and Asetek 760GC.

Out of which of these would be the easiest to install, best quaility or preference. I've yet to dismantle the GPU to see how exposed the other components will be. Reading up on that now, but just wanted to some other opinions on the matter. I rather not waste my money if the 780's performance isn't going to be a giant leap especially when something actually new will be due out next year.

Thanks guys.

Found a video. Seems simple enough just need to figure out how to cool off the other components, I would hate to keep the fan since they are so damn annoying at a 100%, or if its possible to replace it with a quieter fan some how that would be nice.

With your theory of "something around the corner is better" is pointless in this tech world as there will be always something new on horizon just as after Maxwell we get Volta etc. Just make up your mind and decide what you want to do, i see very little reason to put money into the 580 as its old tech or try to find 580 used cheap and sli it for more FPS would be more cost effective than trying to mod coolers on it. Better yet, save your pennies, sell the 580 and get used 680 when 770 comes and you probably will lose a very minimal amount with a nice boost in performance or go all out and get a high end like the 780.

Yea I know that there will always be something better around the corner, I just want there to be a noticeable difference and not just buy every single series. Appreciate the input, may go all out when the 780 debuts
