run OS-X on an Intel PC?

Thread Starter
I was looking around at the apple store at all the new Intel-based Macs and I got to thinking... if OS-X supports Intel-based systems, what is there to stop you from using OS-X on a regular Intel PC?

Off topic: I noticed that they don't seem to offer SCSI drives for their so-called "workstations".

Well, for one, its technically illegal. As to what is stopping you other then the law, nothing really, it has already been done by crackers. However, speaking about stuff like that is against the TOS, so thats as much as I will say.

Absolutly, the terms of service that you accept when you install OSX state the the program can ONLY be run on mac hardware. Thus, when installing the program, or running the program on non-mac hardware, for example, you pc, you are in breach of the TOS. The terms of service are a legal binding agreement. You break them, you are breaking a "contract" with the company that you bought the software from, and thus are in danger of legal action.

You need to have a legal license for OS X for one. And OS X is currently only licensed for Apple's hardware.

Because apple gets so say what can and cannot be done with their software, and if everyone could put OSX on their dells, the apple store would go bankrupt.

Because you can't buy a legal copy of Mac OS unless you buy the computer.

Not that I know of. If it did I am sure we wouldn't have boot camp out there.
