Yikes, customer support sounds awful. What a shame too, sounded like a golden chip, was there really no way to increase the voltage to make it abit more stable? I thought users found a way to unlock the voltage on those chips. Are all the OCs on kepler i see on this site using the stock voltage?

well I have had 4 bad experiences with their "customer support" before that, but this one was it for me. I have joined my friend who won't buy anything from asus anymore. as for the voltage, I never tried the unlocked voltage bios, but more importantly, the bios that was supposed to fix the instability (by lowering clocks and thus performance on a premium priced card) seemed to ruin the card completely. it couldn't be flashed back to the original bios either frown.gif anyways, this is an off topic conversation.

Is it just me or do these numbers seem EXACTLY the same as a gtx 680 would be at those speeds?

The gtx 770 is clocked at 1176mhz boost vs 1058mhz of the gtx 680. 11% increase in core clock.
The memory is clocked at 7ghz vs 6ghz. 16% increase in memory clock.

Honestly there appears to be ZERO performance difference between the two card if they were at the same clocks. And considering that the gtx 680/770 is most likely bandwidth starved, the increase in memory is probably the main reason the card performs better.

This card honestly seems like a complete rebadge....seems like they most likely just did a bios flash like the 7970ghz edition. Up the memory voltage + core voltage and then instant higher clocks.

And overclocking a 680 with 7000 memory will probably be equal to stock 770.

Most of the performance gain in 680 comes from memory oc. There are very, very small gains froma 1100MHz 680 to a 1300Mhz 680. Bump that memory to 7000 or 8000 and you gain much more. I've tested this in 4 different cards, three of which were 680's and one 670. Same results. A 200Mhz resulted in a 1.5fp/s gain with no memory increase on average (except a very few games that saw a slightly bigger gain, but no more than 5fp/s)

umm.... what did you expect? it's always the same man. respins give no tangible performance increase clock for clock. clock the gtx460 and gtx560 at the same speeds and you get a 0-2% variance. do the same for the gtx470 and gtx560ti 448, same result.

The 480 to 570 was definitely a different chip not a rebadge like the 7970ghz or gtx 770 appears to be......so no it is not always the same.

Well if it can't overclock like mad the AMD 7970 would still be a superior option 1.5 years after it's release lol. It could close that 10% stock overclock distance pretty quick. This only hold true if they try and milk the 700 series, otherwise i'm cool lol (Click to show)
I'm disappointed Nvidia didn't choose to go with a ~2000core 4GB GTX780 and 1700core 4GB GTX770 and price them like the 680 and 670 were. Then the (rumored) overpriced 2300core 780 could be the Titan LE everyone was looking forward to.
