After realising that my previous reply was a bit off-topic and not to mention rude, i removed it.
Thanks for all the feedback. I've decided to wait for the 780 and send back my 680. thanks for the help.

And what if one were to use 2 680's 4GB version?

True. But it is highly unlikely imo for the 780 to have less than 3GB of VRAM, especially if the 384-bit memory is considered to be true.

680 has had a successor since February - the Titan. Its not a feasible option just because of its price. But in terms of raw GPU horsepower, it will even beat a single 780.

Wow, isn't 2 780's or even 680's overkill for 1080p?

If you want to max out all games and still have decent FPS, then no, its not overkill.

Try to max out 'NFS Most Wanted' or 'FarCry3' @ 1080p with one high-end card (680 or 7970) & you'd struggle to hit 30fps.

yeah, actually i've changed my mind again tongue.gif i've decided to stick with the 680 and steer away from the headache of returning it, and buy another in like a week. The reason i simply because i've heard that it's going to be exceptionally more expensive than a 680, which makes sense. If i find that they wont max out new games, i'll buy two 8970 instead of waiting for maxwell.

That's not true at all. with my 680 i run far cry 3 at max settings, even with msaa x8, and get a solid 80 frames at all times(some dips to 60 can occur).

Honestly on that monitor I don't think you need either, it's not that large. One 680 should be just fine. If you want more power, from what I've read 780 should be 20% faster than 680. If you already have a 680 I think it's probably much more cost efficient to get another and SLI them.

You're using FC3 DX9 , try the FC3DX11 in the game's folder.
