I like the idea of my console not getting outdated and being fresh and always having features added in. The ps3 has been using the same stale dashboard for ever, I would imagine it would be the same of the ps4. Also nothing is confirmed, MS is a lot better about software quality anyway. I would rather have a quick OS on my next console then wait seconds after seconds trying to go to different menus.
Personally thing about the new xbox is you don't need a cable card or anything like that (while it would be nice to have that, cable cards are old tech and oversized) having a cable box with HDMI is pretty easy to come by. Really almost everyone I know has cable/satellite TV, not having a TV subscription is kinda weird here in the states. Being a Media center is just a added bonus, it is something that currently has been working great with the 360. MS also is tossing Voice tech years ahead of what anyone else is working with into the console, along with a camera that will make it easier for user logins for familys.
And for those that don't like the always plugged in camera, yet sony will also have this for use with the controller as well so almost anyone would already have it plugged in, Yet you have a smart phone are just crazy. If MS can track you in the living room then google and apple can track you everywhere you go, see everything you like to do. They know your passwords, they know your eating habits, hell they could probably turn the camera on and watch you use your phone. You are worrying about Big brother yet your smartphone is big brother in the fullest.
Seems people just like to hate on MS, I would rather give my money to MS then have those greedy sony guys sue some kid's family for all they own with it for downloading a single song. Plus you really want your info being stored on Asian servers ready for the picking... Because big brother is such a threat
Funny thing is even if the ps4 has better specs, having clunky features and a few good games isn't going to win people over where tech is taking off. I think the Media center is just added bonus along with software that doesnt suck and multiplayer features that are fresh. Most of what sony was showing off with the ps4 you can already do with live on the 360. Xbox live and Steam both have a easy way to join peoples games, PSN on the ps4 will be sony just catching up to the 360 IMO. Being a gen behind in the online game is not the way to go when multiplayer games are some of the most played games.
Considering that rumours currently peg the XBO at 5GB usable RAM and the PS4 at 7GB usable RAM, plus the XBOne has 3 OS'...That will not be cheap on the RAM.
How is it stale? XMB works well (IMO, as well as the Xbox 360 dashboard and far better than the original) although yes, nothing is confirmed. If you've had a console that had to wait between menus I suggest you take it back, as no console bar those that have to wait for CDs to spin up has had pauses in the menu.
Yep, keywords there: "in the states". Think about that for a second...If MS concentrates mainly on the US, why would game developers give them good support? The PS4 would have the rest of the world (Bar maybe Japan depending on how Nintendo does) and if it got a few great exclusives from that, the US too. The Voice tech isn't really that good either...Firstly, Kinect (Not sure about Kinect 2 obviously) can accidentally be activated by TV shows
unless you calibrate it (I don't need to calibrate my TV Remote or my phones IR blaster, they always work once set up) and secondly, how many people are going to ever use voice talk beyond showing off, joking around or testing it out for the first time? I've never seen anyone use Siri, S Voice, etc in reality outside of those scenarios.
The difference between those is the phone? I can run custom firmware on most models of phone from day one and know that usually, those types of things are found with fixes..Reckon we'll get that with the XBOne? I'm running Cyanogenmod on my phone and I severely doubt any spying code from Google would get through all of the people mucking around with and altering it...Compare this to the XBOne which will be lucky to get custom firmware at all
let alone on the level of Android.
No, but their core audience doesn't want media features..Some do, but most don't...The casual audience they're going for with those features are the kind of people who will buy a console (Which MS will sell at a loss at first, by the way) and no games, it's not a smart business decision to go for those until later in the consoles life-time. Also, have you used PSN recently? It's already caught up to XBL, it has its negatives but so does XBL.
