[Various] Xbox One Reveal - Page 43

Worst case scenario, we get prettier console ports, best case at least one console will be worth buying.

Weak sauce though M$. I was optimistic after the Sony conference. I'm a bit bewildered after the M$ one. Roll on E3.

It's not so much the hardware being crappy, the developers are used to getting performance out of hardware in specific ways. That said, they are also used to programming in their own style. Until you see more developers push new things, you are likely going to see simple graphical improvements.

Something like more poly counts, more lighting, stuff they can easily duplicate and ad more of with higher end hardware. A lot of the console focused companies lack in techniques that the hardware can actually do. Most of the DX11 feature sets are going to be slowly integrated as developers learn and understand.

Basically, they bumped the hardware too far. They've got more room to do things than even they can imagine, with abilities that are far below what should be expected with this hardware. I would assume you are going to see some pretty shoddy techniques used for a while into the next gen console's life. Something I didn't even think about but after seeing the footage.... Well it kind of speaks for itself.

They did a good job on the hardware, just don't expect developers to be up to the skill range. They haven't been on the PC and it's not because of "diversity". It's simply because they've focused so much on this last gen, that's where all the knowledge comes from.

Tires and windows have always been massive giveaways for racing games, they always look unnatural no matter how good the car is rendered but it seems they fixed that.

Also this Xbox looks like it was designed for use in the USA only. Alot of those features won't be available in other countries especially the poorer ones.
I lol'd when i heard that hahaha. The kinect is on the same level as the hubble and kepler apparently

Just in case you wanted to see this again.

Yeah, this thread turned out just about how I expected. How tragic.

Let me summarize the reactions:

* Give me more details on the hardware. I want to know what specific electrons are flowing. SPECIFICS!!!!
* I, just one person, don't watch TV, therefore no one anywhere watches TV, therefore Xbox One is going to be a commercial failure.
* Sports and sports games are for complete brohards. Yeah, hardcore PC gaming all the way! You! Give me a completely insecure, bro-like high five and grunt "YEAH!!!" and we'll go back to pretending we aren't the exact same.
* Ehh, partnerships, TV, web browser. Does it play games? Oh, it does? Nevermind, I'm playing games on PC. It was a rhetorical question as I (and my investment in my PC) already made up my mind.
* How dare Microsoft have the gall to design a HTPC that can play games, because no one wants that. In their living room.
* I want my bandwidth back. The bandwidth. On my unlimited usage plan. That actually belongs to my employer. Yeah. I'm going to try expensing it.
* lok at my, my caan typ wurdz mkaing fun of M$

The other thing, the 500gb hard drive is Microsoft only. So far, it does not look like it will support 3rd party hdds.

I hope that they plan on releasing a new xbox every year. Because being that locked down, having hardware for more then 7 years, and no used games, you are so much better going to pc gaming.

"Microsoft did say that if a disc was used with a second account, that owner would be given the option to pay a fee and install the game from the disc, which would then mean that the new account would also own the game and could play it without the disc."\

I don't see the problem

I dont understand the cynicism. Look. Consoles will never be on par with your PC. After all is that what you really want? Do you really wnat to replace your upgradeable PC with a console that smokes it, but you can't upgrade for 5-7 years? Consoles are not meant to be the enthusiasts PC replacement.

As far as "CONSOLES" go, this is a really good step in the right direction. gesture and voice intergration is great. OS simplified, multitasking is good and fast. The market that consoles are looking to fill is your all in one box. Google tv's have been trying to do it, Apple tvs are trying to do it, PS4 is trying to do it. And XBOX one looks as though it's the better option.

If you are complaining because this doesn't hold a candle to your 3770k GTX680 pc...then you really dont get what the XBox is. XBOX isn't aimed at you. So just let it go.

Am I the only person sick of Microsoft telling us what we want instead of asking us? All this touch screen crap resulted in a huge failure with windows 8. Then they go and repeat with the new Xbox saying its gonna make my TV more Intelligent etc etc...I dont care about that crap if I want my tv to do more ill go buy a more advanced one. I buy a gaming console to play games on, so stop messing with the formula MS for Christs sake?

Does a reveal for a new product ever raise the stock prices for the company that's presenting?
