This is exactly what you should have been expecting.

A brief event designed to release the hardware specs and what the thing looks like. They are just begining to get the hype machine rolling.

In terms of the system. They have a certain price point that has to be hit within the market. We already knew that these systems were going to become more like a PC and that is exactly what it is.

It is a decent all in one solution for the large consumer base of families and kids that will buy this type of all in one device.

I think for true PC gaming enthusiasts, the benefit is that development across paltforms should become much simpler and smoother for the gaming studios. Basically, more PC releases and better quality I would hope!!

Real gaming will still happen on the PC!!!!

Let me summarize the reactions:

* Give me more details on the hardware. I want to know what specific electrons are flowing. SPECIFICS!!!!
* I, just one person, don't watch TV, therefore no one anywhere watches TV, therefore Xbox One is going to be a commercial failure.
* Sports and sports games are for complete brohards. Yeah, hardcore PC gaming all the way! You! Give me a completely insecure, bro-like high five and grunt "YEAH!!!" and we'll go back to pretending we aren't the exact same.
* Ehh, partnerships, TV, web browser. Does it play games? Oh, it does? Nevermind, I'm playing games on PC. It was a rhetorical question as I (and my investment in my PC) already made up my mind.
* How dare Microsoft have the gall to design a HTPC that can play games, because no one wants that. In their living room.
* I want my bandwidth back. The bandwidth. On my unlimited usage plan. That actually belongs to my employer. Yeah. I'm going to try expensing it.
* lok at my, my caan typ wurdz mkaing fun of M$

In short... there was a lot of insecure bull**** in this thread.

Agreed! I'm not a COD fan, but all the bashing on the thread ignores the fact that it is the largest selling franchise for a reason. So all the know it all OCNers really need to get a reality check. Sure it's not ARMA but they must be doing something right as to beat out the other gazillion FPS on concoles.

And that was one of the BIGGEST selling points of console vs PC gaming, and I do both but I like to save money and can try out new games at a later date at a lower cost or trade them in for something back if I want to.

I have no such options with PC gaming and having that option mostly removed due to Microsoft is a big no no in my book.

well i like this part about the console

Xbox One will come with a native 64-bit architecture, Microsoft announced at their Xbox reveal this morning. The system will have “three operating systems in one”.

i hope it means we will see 64bit games getting more releases , so the ports to PC will be so much better

Forza 5 looked nice graphically and will be the main reason I end up purchasing an XBOX.

COD Ghosts graphically is far worse than BF3 on PC... Kind of obvious there.

I quite liked the dog comparison between MW3 and Ghosts... "Look, we even have the dog's number tattooed in his ear...." OMG GRAFIX!

OMG we have character customization. It's ground breaking; you can choose their heads!

OS looked great, fast, responsive, and probably not live.

Microsoft Studio's 8 new IP's sounds promising.

Overall, I expected a lot more... a lot more game-play.... a lot more about the tech specs of the console... and got little to none.

Direct hardware access. thumb.gif

That existed before on the other consoles, but since this time everything chippy is being made by the same company I guess every optimization will be easily replicable between systems. We're not far to start seeing 8 cores fully multithreaded and multiused, people biggrin.gif Add to that, that any +150$ GPU easily outperforms the PS4/Xbox ONE GPU and then we're into LUDICROUS PERFORMANCE. It's fair to guess everyone will benefit but AMD will take the helm, being in the know of everything lachen.gif

The bad rep that developers will get if they are so IDIOT as to screw everything with easily ported games is going to be LUDICROUS, also.

Bastard developer: "Erm, the PC port was difficult cause...you know...different architectures...different programming environment...the compiler...our mother's underwear stinks and makes us dizzy and happy..."

All other developers: "Bastard developer, go home!Go home, bastard developer, you're drunk...on your mother's underwear odour"
