AMD confirms that the XBOX One uses a single-chip, semi-custom AMD APU co-developed with Microsoft.

Funny thing is that single 5 billion transistor chip is the biggest AMD has ever made. And it's not even on 28nm but 40nm.... kookoo.gif

I don't really get it. Are they saying they made something much bigger than fermi?

but isnt the point of kinect to be a bit like big brother so they can watch how many people are viewing the film you bought / rented ? and also how on earth can you feel comfortable with a camera linked to microsoft and its servers always watching you while you game, even if your idle on the dash with your tv turned off it could (*Cough will) be able to record without your consent. Geez this is starting to scare me now, every corporation wants to monitor you 24/7 just like the government does outside, only now they can passively get into your home and sell on the information

paranoid or what redface.gif

How can you take an article seriously if it blatantly ignores what most people are interested in? COD and NFL might not be a big deal to the writer, but apparently it's a big deal to the millions of people that buy the products those multibillion dollar companies produce. To minimalize certain features based on pure taste is horrible journalism. A true journalist would have jumped into the details of those features regardless of his/her own actual usage of those features...ESPECIALLY seeing that the journalist's opinion is completely contrary to the person that will actually use it. Kinda like asking someone to do a review of a TV and the review being something of the sorts of "I dont really watch TV or movies, so I could care less."

Why would anyone with a Gaming PC buy an XBOX even if the graphics were just as good? It offers no benefit. You already have the capability on your PC. Soooo XBOX is geared towards thos with a living room, who watch movies, tv, play games, make skype calls, check fantasy sports on Sunday afternoon, and want to look up recipes for wings before the game...Sounds pretty good if you're 90% of the country....ALL on one machine.

I would buy an Xbox if its gaming capabilities matched or surpassed my PC's. Who wants to buy a $500 GPU every other year when you can get a $300-400 console that will last 5 years? HTPC stuff is great, but it should be a gaming console first and foremost.

Yeah, it's a low end PC media focused box.

You buy your game and link it your account, you pay a fee for anyone else that wants to use that game in your household. I.e 3 children and 1 adult will pay Four fees, you pay an additional fee to play your game 'online'. So yourself and other household members must pay for Xbox live Gold to play online..

In summary a single game could cost a fortune for a typical household to play.

If you live on your own and are the only user it's not so bad, for everyone else get a PS4.

hmm good question?

hidden behind flip down front panel would look like crap.

i had hoped for inductive charging.... recharge wireless by placing it on top of the console wouldve been so sweet.

They probably shoved an entire 7850 on there. I wonder how they are going to cool it...

I estimate the TDP of the APU will be anywhere between 200W and 300W.
