Weird of them to change their minds after treating consumers like money pinatas. Maybe Sony's stock shooting up 9.25% had something to do with it...

Looks like it.

Am I just blind or does this thing really not have any front USB connections?
Surely that is a really dumb design move.

Reaching the back of my 360 right now is a pain in the royal ass but at least there are 2 ports up front when I only need to connect 2 things by wire.

This. I might watch a movie on it occasionally, the software in a PS2 is good enough...That's all I need, I don't want Netflix (That I can't watch unless I move to America anyway) or the like on it, I've got a PC/HTPC for that.

Unless there is some hidden stuff behind one of the front panels?

It has a "removable battery compartment", so I'm hoping it's a removable rechargeable battery...However I wouldn't be surprised if it was still AAs considering how otherwise disappointing the Xbox One is. rolleyes.gif

If it charges while the system is on standby, you could leave them charging when you're not using them, likely rarely (if ever) run out of battery and have no cables.

Not only does this combined that into one console, but improves on the experience.

Every average consumer who has an Xbox also strangely is missing out on those media updates you need to run anything but ancient WMA files and the like on their 360s...There's also the fact that Netflix, ESPN, etc aren't really available outside of America in full. I'd honestly say most people play games on their gaming consoles.

That's funny, because between 3 Xbox 360s (Jasper, all 65nm model and a slim 4GB arcade model with a 320GB drive) and the many, many PCs I've had then the whole Media Center Extender setup part has worked once for me, every other time it keeps giving me silent and random failures without giving me half of the information I need to get the damn thing to work.

Why toss touch screens in cars? all you need is a simple radio right? I love my wince touchscreen gps/radio unit, I have it connect to my bluetooth obdII adapter for advanced car info.
Why toss Smart features on TV? while some people like me would never use them, so do and like having them.
list could go on

Considering that games have been focused on multiplayer more then ever, XBL still has a huge advantage over PSN.

XBL hasn't had an advantage over PSN for a few years now, PSN was rough at first and the hack sucked but they're virtually equal...Sony has some bad points and good points as does MS.

The difference is, most of us don't use those...My TV has an ethernet port for this kind of crap but that doesn't mean it's main user (My decidedly average consumer Mother) uses it for more than what she used the TV she had in 1992 for. Hell, I'll take those extra features when they only impede my main use a tiny bit...Look at a smartphone, even if you only text and call it's still good, even if you only drive your car and have the radio/a CD or MP3 player plugged in it's still good, if you don't touch that stuff on a TV it doesn't make the TV watching worse...Compare that to this, it's running 3 OS' at once meaning that more RAM will most likely be dedicated to the OS than the PS4, MS has less gaming features and more multimedia features, etc as well...And Kinect? Why should we pay extra for something that virtually no-one wants? The only person I know who uses a Kinect is 9 and only started using it because her Wii broke.

The trick is to look at what the most basic thing your console is meant to do (ie. Play games) and then improve on that, here it looks like MS sat down and had a few brainstorming sessions on what they want it to do other than game and that gaming got pushed to the wayside...If I get one it will literally just be for Forza and the possibility of a next-gen Rock Band.

Yeahno. Why would people buy the new Xbox One when the PS4 looks so much better? Cheaper online gaming, cheaper used games, no useless Kinect being forced on you with the possibility of DRM during movies, etc. All in all the PS4 looks like a better buy...and do you think Gamestop, etc are going to do MS favors when MS is trying to monetize the used games market? They're removing the point in buying used by making it cost more and even if they reduce prices in order to keep sales up, Gamestop, EB, etc all lose out and will most likely help Sony and push the PS4 simply because of that.

As for saying "Yeah, well they have 360s"..that didn't stop people jumping from the PS2 to the 360, online stuff really isn't much of a pull compared to the stuff MS is trying to pull either tbh.

Format, you could format it to work on a 360 as long as it was the size of the largest XB360 Hard Drive I think.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is how they leverage DRM. Your console isn't good enough to play these latest and greatest CoD unless you use our cloud computing packaged with your Gold level member$hip.

IIRC the ps3 was supposed to have a similar thing. With afk ps3s powering those in use over the internet.

Someone pointed out about NFL, and its odd MS tries to pitch NFL Games so bad when US Xbox sales only represents around 33% of worldwide, and outside US nobody cares about it.

Anyway I don't think Raw Power will be key on this Gen, Building a ecosystem around the Console is MS knows this, that is why they aren't focusing so much on Games, but has a core gamer I could care less about those features, MS might sell allot of consoles based on the fact alot of people are interested in those, if Sony does this right they can actually pull core gamers from MS, since these gimmicks MS shown today will just alienate, annoy, piss off etc... allot of the Core Gamers.

Just My theory anyway.

So I'm not going to get to play Forza 5? That makes me sad. Hopefully Polyphony Digital does a better job with GT5 than that god-awful hackjob that was GT4. It's a shame that the enthusiasts at Turn 10 are tied to Microsoft, they put a lot of love into the Forza games.

GT6 is the new one. I probably preferred Forza a bit more, but the ridiculous amount of DLC Turn 10 forces really turned me off and I never bought Forza 4. I still can't comprehend why GT6 is coming out for PS3 and not PS4. Both games seem to have some odd choices associated with them.
