but u forgeting the big + consoles will still have over PC's : no need for hardware update to get the max settings on gaming (and sins the new hardware is PC like the graphics probbly gonna be good)

I understand the tradeoff between console and PC, trust me, I played PS1>PS2>PS3 (call me a sony fanboy, if you want...) and loved the console world. I just got tired of seeing the costs increase with every iteration of console in terms of price of the system, games and DLC. With the PC, mods are free DLC, games are always cheaper and you can put a lot of cash upfront and get a huge return since you can sell your old parts. But with this latest generation, it is clear that this trend I am speaking of continues. to worsen As far as DRM goes, there have been a lot of failures in that regard (MMORPGS) and many games that I personally play are DRM free. I won't touch it unless it is multi-player DRM obviously. While I think DRM is the scourge of the PC gaming industry, the console is really imo about multi-player with friends/family in person and online. DRM ruins that as well. In a way the Xbox One has DRM since you must log in once every 24 hours for it to function...

Update - Microsoft's Larry Hryb has issued the following clarification:
Quote:
Another piece of clarification around playing games at a friend’s house – should you choose to play your game at your friend’s house, there is no fee to play that game while you are signed in to your profile.

What this means is that if you take a game to a friend's house and try to play the game on their system using their account, you'll need to pay. If you take it to their house and try to play it on their system using your account, you won't need to pay.

In other words: playing while you're there is free. If you want to lend it to them for a few days/weeks? They'll have to pay.

There is an exception, which is quite modest, but still the very thought that you can't lend a friend a game for a week without having them play on your account is wrong, since they might D/L something for $$$ or whatever. Some of my best console games were played at my friends places, then I borrowed the game for a while to try it out, and eventually I bought the game on occasion. For example I did that with Ace Combat 4, SOCOM I, CoD 2 and 4. The list goes on. People will now have to rely on spoliers from "lets play vids" and no longer get that experience of borrowing a game and having the saves to pick up from where you left off mid-level when you got your own copy.

Never buy used games anyway because I like supporting the developers and not the re-sell companies screwing you over.

I love the design of the Xbox One and will definitely be picking one up.

Does this mean if my brother and I want to have separate accounts we will need to buy 2 copies of each game?

The general public a.k.a Mom and Dads and other non technical adapt people are gonna have a logical nightmare trying to figure all on this crap with Xbox One. Seriously, just stop and think about how simple consoles used to be which was one of the MAIN SELLING POINTS of consoles vs PC gaming. Now Microsoft it just turning console gaming into a cluster fark for people not in the know.

Hell, im in the know and I don't like what I'm seeing!

You must not have any friends and get a nice big check every week.

This is way beyond the scope of buying used games.

That's certainly what it sounds like so far.

I really wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft backed off on this though. Surely they monitor comment feeds and forums after a major announcement like this, to gauge public perception (which is overwhelmingly negative in this situation).

Dunno if this has been mentioned already, and we already kinda knew it, but The Verge managed to get Microsoft Xbox Live VP Marc Whitten confirming that the Xbox One isn't backwards compatible. frown.gif

This was just posted on Reddit and I have to completely agree. Guess what happens to search engines when you do a search for "Xbox 1 or Xbox one?"

Going through with this would kind of defeat the purpose console for me. The only time I use my consoles anymore is when friends come over. Consoles are (*were) way easier for multiplayer than pcs.

The system is based on a different core architecture, so back-compat doesn't really work from that perspective.

Yeah, no one is really griping about this though because it cannot be helped.
