People are free to pay 60-90 bucks for a game but I am not.I'll wait for a sale which is the smart thing to do.

I would say that is definitely not one of the main reasons people buy a console. It was a benefit for sure, but not a deal breaker imo.

The biggest reasons are to do with the actual games that people want to play.

That's why Origin can survive in a Steam dominated market area, even while most on OCN were expecting it to die immediately.

Its the reason why Steam was not killed immediately by the angry gaming community when it first appeared and caused all kinds of rage. Steam did not save Steam, the games on Steam saved Steam.

That's why people end up with more than one gaming platform, despite one "winning" in one way or the other over another.

That's why when the Wii had specs that were a "joke", Nintendo still put out some very highly rated games people still bought it.

It is all about the games (and marketing).

People always seem to forget that it is the games that drive platforms, not the other way around.

If there are games on the hardware that people want to play and it is necessary for them to buy said hardware in order to access said games (i.e. exclusives) they will buy that hardware.

It is literally as simple as that.

All this bickering about too much tv related info etc is almost literally a waste of time (mostly because MS never intended for this to be a replacement for E3), because once there is a blockbuster game on that console that people want to play, they are buying that console and that is that. Period.

Good for AMD. If they can score a hit with Steamroller and the next line of graphics cards, they'll be in pretty good shape going forward I think.

I missed where anything was said about this being profitable, turning AMD around, or even remotely mentioning anything along those lines...

I mean it's good and all. It's just that not one thing was said about AMD being in better shape because of this.

Agreed 100%. The killer app is what sells a console. Heck, my buddy got into StarCraft 2 one night at my house and he immediately made a PC gaming rig. He hasn't looked back.

If they put out GTA V on this thing and I had to buy it to play GTA 5, I would buy an Xbox One. Otherwise, at least right now, there's nothing I'm interested in that is exclusive to this platform. With that said, if it comes out that I must have an active XBL subscription to play GTA 5 and that I had to lock into a 2 year deal of it, I would refuse. Corps are trying hard to make that model THE model, but people in the US are becoming highly resistant, even with cell phones. I'll pay you month to month, and you'll likely get two years out of me that way, but something about signing a contract feels dirty to me. Unfortunately, at least with this announcement, MS seems to have forgotten the gamer core that brought them this far.

btw the console's design looks like poop. They took a step backwards.

I only commented, heh...

AMD could each quarter earn of profit 200-400M$ depending on sales... thumb.gif

BTW...

Quake 3 Arena announcer sound:
Dominating - AMD has all consoles
Humiliation - AMD cut off nVidia

Lets be honest, nVidia does not have a bright future in the long run and many analyst will agree sooner or later. Not flamming, its factual. rolleyes.gif
