[Various] Xbox One Reveal - Page 99

So far PS4 is like a PS3.5

and Xbox 360 is like Xbox 360.5

I don't see anything groundbreaking.

There were some great differences between PS2 and PS3 as well as Xbox and Xbox 360.

But not so much in the upcoming consoles.

Ok, I'll bite.

So where is the CableCARD slot on the new Xbox? Where's the hours and hours of HD video recording? Where's Comskip and MCEBuddy? Does it even have a QAM tuner? No. It can do nothing that a cheaper HTPC can't. Unless you're excited about waving your arms around to change channels.

Going from 512MB of memory to 8GB memory by it self will make this much more than a .5 refresh. Look at what developers can accomplish on the PS3 and 360...granted the new consoles don't have the most cutting edge hardware, but we are getting a big jump. I honestly don't expect visuals to change that much save for maybe more AA and a 1080p resolution, but I am really expecting physics to become much better. That is what I am looking forward towards the most. Though I am only talking about ports to PC here, but no one makes more than one core version of the game. They just make it for consoles and then tack on some mouse support and if we are lucky some options to unlock more features of the graphics engine. Though I have been temped to get a console as of late...heh, I know I wont do it though.

The specs might be incredible but I honestly am not expeting the wow factor of PS3 to PS2 or Xbox 360 to Xbox

I even have my doubts that 60hz stable 1080p is possible in most games beside indie games.

And last but not least I believe the graphical difference will only get wider between consoles and PCs in the next generation.

The 8 CPU cores is going to do more than anything. Just think: "console ports" are going to have to be highly-threaded.

they made a VCR/PVR/TV box to replace your VCR/PVR/TV box ....... with games. it looks like a TV box and they sell it as a TV box, not a console doh.gif

do you know that you need a digital receiver to watch those channels ?!!

which means

Xone - digital receiver = no xbox TV
Xone + digital receiver = Xbox TV

what's so next-gen about Xone so far ?! nothing really but a dog in COD smile.gif

Maybe not at max detail...but consoles will just get the medium to low settings like they have been recently. Though low on an game in the near future will probably be about equal to high on most of the present games. though yeah...graphics aren't going to change much. Mainly because they are so good now. That is why I am hoping the extra memory and CPU cores...combined with a little AMD HSA will make physics take off. Levels of environment destruction never dreamed of. Weapon effects. Hair and facial expressions. Awesome physics is what is needed to round out the games with great visuals.

I think the graphics divide will remain about the same...remember, the games are made for the consoles and then have few extra things figuratively bolted on. Even on the few PC exclusives that come out the graphics are all that special because they are using engines that want to get into console games.

I didn't really even see all that much wow factor from the PS2 to the PS3...though then the only way I've played PS2 games has been on a emulator on the PC with a higher than native resolution and 4xAA hacked in. To be honest I think the PS3 is a down grade just because of the quality of games. I've been finding out I missed a lot by not getting a PS2. A lot of these games are amazing. I haven't played the PS3 or 360 much, but when I have had my hands on one or played the ports on the PC...I still don't think many games can compare to some of the RPGs for the PS2. I just played on the PC and never bothered with a PS2, but I think the PS2 might have been the golden age of gaming.

You would watch TV in SD on a HDTV? You know it looks pretty bad, HDTV is such a noticeable difference. The box/service is only like $10 bucks, would rather have that then destroy my eye sight. There is a reason I play computer games, consoles look like crap.

I think Sony Fanboys are just butthurt that they can't run TV through their console and have instant switching. No more having to watch a loading screens. While the standard cable company guide is always pretty good, that new guide looks pretty good as well. IR blaster port on the back, this will be a pretty cool machine. We may not have gotten to look at some of the games, but at least what we saw of the dashboard looked years ahead of what sony was doing.
